God told prophets about Jesus’ birth. The prophets, Isaiah and Micah, wrote that God promised to send a special King. People waited a long time for Jesus to be born. 2

God sent an angel to a girl named Mary. The angel told Mary that she was going to have a baby boy—God’s Son. Mary was going to marry Joseph. An angel told Joseph in a dream that Mary’s baby was God’s very

own Son. God chose Mary and Joseph to be Jesus’ family. 3

God’s Son was born, and they named Him Jesus. That night, an angel said to shepherds nearby, “A Savior was born!” A sky full of angels praised God. The shepherds ran and found Baby Jesus. They praised God

and told everyone about what they had seen. 4

A man named Simeon had been waiting to see the special King whom God had promised to send. When Mary and Joseph brought Baby Jesus to the temple, Simeon held Baby Jesus and praised God. Then a woman named Anna also praised God and told people in the temple that Jesus was the special King.

Wise men saw a bright star in the sky. They knew the star meant the special King God promised to send was born. They traveled to Bethlehem and saw Jesus. They worshiped Jesus and gave Him gifts:

gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 6
