Applications, References & Overview Farris’ 2600, 2600S & 2600L pressure relief

valves are used wherever safety valves according to API 526 are specified, e.g.:– Refineries– Chemical industry– Petrochemical industry– Oil and gas – Onshore and Offshore– Vessel and piping systems– Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO)

2600 Series Restricted Lift

Full Lift Valve:Valve capacity controlled by size of the valve nozzle orifice area.

Restricted Lift Valve: Capacity controlled by the cylindrical discharge opening between the seating surfaces created when disk lifts above the seat [Curtain Area].

Valve Lift Types

2600 Series Restricted Lift Why Use Restricted Lift Valves

• Orifice areas of adjacent orifices on API type valves increase from 21% to 73%.

• Restricting lift allows you to more closely match the valves ratedcapacity to the system requirements.

• Mitigate problem of inlet pressure loss exceeding APIrecommended limit of 3% of set pressure.

2600 Series Restricted Lift

Farris Lift Restriction Method - Spacer• Does not require modification of standard internal parts to achieve lift

restriction.• Does not require use of extra wire sealing or locking mechanism like

other methods, such as use of adjustable gag screws.

2600 Series Restricted Lift

Basic Valve Requirements• Each valves actual full lift must first be verified before the lift

restriction spacer is manufactured and installed.• Valves cannot be restricted to less than 30% of the full rated lift or

0.080”. [Per ASME Code, paragraph UG-134]• Restricted lift nameplate capacity is determined by multiplying the

capacity at full rated lift by the ratio of restricted lift to the full rated lift. [Per ASME Code, paragraph UG-133]

• Spring Selections – Use standard 2600 spring charts.
