Caution – Obey postings and warning signs and flags. Watch out for underwater currents, and always check

the surf conditions.

Bellows Field Beach Park – Beautiful beach with small, consistent shore break for swimming and beginning

surfers. Open weekends only (Fri. noon–Mon. 8am). Lifeguard, picnic areas, showers, restrooms. Obey

military police on base. No surfing is allowed between the two lifeguard stands.

Waimānalo Bay State Recreation Area – Quiet sandy beach away from the crowd. Good for bodyboarding

and shortboarding. Lifeguards, picnic areas, restrooms, showers, camping with permit, free parking.

Castle’s Beach – Good beginner longboard surfing. Street parking only. Enter from public

right of way at 800 block of N. Kalaheo Ave. No lifeguard or facilities.

Shore Break – Good shortboarding; good bodyboarding and swimming.

Street parking only. Enter from public right of way at 500 block of N. Kalaheo

Ave. No lifeguard or facilities.

Kaupō Bay – Good beach for beginning surfers when surf is up. Shortboarding and

longboarding. No lifeguard or facilities. Parking off Kalanianaole Hwy.

Kaupō Heiau – Ruins and memorial for lost pre-contact Kaupo Village.

Makapu u Point – Challenging bodysurfing beach. Lifeguard, parking, restrooms.

Lanikai Point (A’lala Point) – Good stand-up paddle boarding. Swimming beach with lava rock tidal pools that are good for small children. Boat ramp launch area for kayaks, sailboats

and power craft. Free public parking. Open 5am–10pm. Restrooms, showers and picnic area.

Lanikai Beach – Good swimming, snorkeling, sailing and kayaking.

Watch for sea turtles. Street parking only. Best beach access via public

rights of way off Mokulua Dr at Mokumanu, Kaiolena, Haokea and Kuailima. No lifeguard or facilities.

Obey postings & beach warnings. Stay safe. Watch for warning signs of rough

waves or other unsafe conditions. Beware of auto break-ins. Don’t leave valuables

anywhere in your car, not even in your locked glove compartment or trunk.

Kalama Beach Park – Bodyboarding and swimming; good beach for small groups.

Entrance at 248 N. Kalaheo Ave. Limited free public parking in small lot

and on side streets. Open daily 7am–6pm. Restrooms, showers

and picnic areas.

Moku Nui – State of Hawaii Seabird Sanctuary. Permit required. Follow DLNR restrictions. No dogs, no fires, no

camping. Challenging kayaking destination. Good for picnicking and snorkeling. No water, no lifeguard and no

facilities. Moku Iki is off limits.

Kailua Beach Park – Launch area for kayaking, windsurfing and kiteboarding. Park entrance at the corner of Kalaheo Ave and Kailua Rd. Free public

parking. Open daily 5am–10pm. Lifeguard, restrooms, showers and picnic areas.

Ahu o Laka – The Kāneohe Bay Sandbar, the beachin the bay. Accessible by kayak or sail from

He‘eia State Park and Paradise Bay Resort.

Kāne‘ohe Beach Park – Showers, facilities, launch ramp for kayaks and boats. Parking.

Waimānalo Beach Park – Center of 75-acre ocean recreation area, with very popular long, white beach good for swimming and most other water recreation.

Lifeguards, restrooms, showers, shady areas. Closed at dusk.

Pyramid Rock Beach – Sandy beach on the Marine Corps base; swimming, kayaking, whale watching and

bodysurfing. Parking. Military only.

North Beach – Rugged beach for experienced surfers only. Parking. Lifeguard. No facilities. Military only.

Fort Hase Beach – Rocky coast for experienced kayakers and surfers only. Beach walking. No facilities. Parking. Military only.

Kaiona Beach Park – Family-friendly beach with a sandy bottom, usually calm

waters and boat anchorage. Restrooms, showers, picnic

tables, parking. No lifeguard.

Flat Island (Popoia) – Popular swimming and water sports destination. No facilities. State of Hawaii Seabird Sanctuary; permit

required. Popular surf site on the south side.

Hale Koa Beach – Calm, sandy beach on the northwest side of MCBH. Swimming and kayaking. Parking. Cabins. Military only.

Moku o Lo‘e

Park legally & keep bikeways clear. Don’t park in driveways, at bus stops,

on paved sidewalks or bikeways or areas marked “No Parking.” Best

beach parking is available Monday through Friday. Allow extra time for parking on weekends and holidays.

Anticipate parking restrictions on holidays.

Be considerate & courteous.

Lanikai and Kailua are residential neighborhoods. Please respect the quiet, privacy and property rights of

the neighbors. Don’t leave a mess for someone else to clean up.
