Key versesDaniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He

changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and

knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the

darkness, and light dwells with Him. And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom

which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and

consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.”

– Daniel 2:20-22, 44 NKJV

Jeremiah’s Prophecy

For thus says the LORD: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and

perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to

give you a future and a hope.

– Jer 29:10,11 NKJV, 597 B.C.

Daniel’s Response

In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the

desolations of Jerusalem. Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting,

sackcloth, and ashes.

– Daniel 9:2,3 NKJV, 539 B.C.
