NEWSLETTER 40 – 16th December, 2016
Happy birthday to the following student/s that celebrated their birthdays this week: Eva Siperki & Mrs Batey.
PRINCIPALS REPORT It has come to that time of year to look back and reflect on the number of accomplishments that we have had throughout the year and thank our wonderful community that have helped in so many ways. Whether that be organising the Garage Sale, fixing the plumbing at the school, meeting with VicRoads about the car parking area or listening to our Foundation students read. A huge thank you! You are all extremely special people. Year 4, 5 and 6 bike ride into town The year 4, 5 and 6 bike ride into town has been cancelled due to extreme weather Graduation What an amazing evening we had on Monday night. Our Year 6 students proved yet again that their maturity, growth and personalities have developed beyond their years. Thank you to Judy and Ben for hosting our event at the King River Café. Also a special thank you to Linda Syers who spent many hours producing a fantastic year 6 graduation book which all the students and staff will be able to keep and reflect on their time at the school with. Thank you Linda, your efforts this year have been amazing.
Walking/Riding to and from school There are lots of changes occurring out the front of the school and it is having effect on where we can cross students to get them safely on to the bike track. We are making sure that all students head off together in a group and look out for each other. There have been a few reported sightings of snakes on the track so please make sure you remind your children what to do if they see a snake. Congratulations to all our students that are exercising and choosing a great healthy way to get to and from school!

MISS TUCCITTO, OOPS I MEAN MRS AUMANN As many of you know, I got married on the 12th of November. I just wanted to take the time to publicly thank everyone from the Oxley PS community who have passed on well wishes. It was an absolutely fabulous day and it means so much to know that many people have shared what they were thinking of us on the day! Just another reminder of how lucky I am to be a part of this wonderful school. What some of you may not know is that I asked the grade 2-4 students to write about what love means and to give some advice for the future. This was then read out at our ceremony by Deb, our class support staff member (and my Mum)!
Thank you once again and enjoy the holidays, Nadia Aumann

Reading by 2-4 at Oxley PS When you love someone, you do anything for them, you even kiss them on the cheek in front of the tv when you think no one is looking. Love feels like a warm, fuzzy hug or a big burst coming from your heart. It feels like snuggling up with your dog or seeing the fluffiness bunny ever. It's like having a sweet dream or jumping on a trampoline. Love is the warmth of fire on your skin, like puppies that have just been born. It's having pizza for dinner and apple pie for dessert. It is getting an enormous cuddle for doing something you didn't think you could do but you did. It is when you walk down a red carpet or when you cry with joy. Love is the key to life and the best feeling in the world. Now for some advice
1. Don't drop the ring! 2. Love each other for the rest of your days 3. Cook each other dinner when one has been working late 4. Eat Doritos 5. When you love someone, show them. Appreciate and help them 6. Let them have the last piece of chocolate. 7. One of your kids will come in and kick you out of bed, but that's ok 8. If your kids are naughty, be mad but not too mad. That what my mum does and it's
perfect 9. Live great and look good!

Last week we made Sfingis (pronounced Svinghys) donuts from Sicily.
It was quite a simple recipe but absolutely delicious!
If you would like to try and make these yummy desserts the recipe is:
*Self-raising flour – 2 cups *Eggs - 2
*Hot water *Sugar
*Cinnamon *Oil to cook in
Mix together the flour, eggs and add in water to make a sticky consistency.
Drop balls in to hot oil. Remove when golden and drop in to cinnamon and
sugar to coat.
They are sooooo GOOD that Xavier ate 9 (and I’m sure everyone had at
least 5 each). We would like to thank Lisa for teaching us this year and say:
è stato molto divertente, grazie Lisa
