� 1979 Start of Automobile phone service (rental use only / only for use in the car)� 1994 the sales of mobile phone handset was liberated.� The Mobile-phone penetration rate was higher than 100% in February, 2012.

The Mobile Service Coverage Rate by Population
All national land is divided by meshes with 500 meters× 500 metersboxes. -477,172 meshes (2010 population census of Japan(Nov. 1, 2010))-The meshes of which more than half is covered are counted as ‘Covered’.
