Hey everyone out there, my name is Matthew Loeber and I was born in 1968 in New Jersey. I live in Philadelphia now in a little town called Manayunk. I graduated from The Art Institue of Philadelphia in 1994 with a degree in Photography. My passion for the last 14 years has been doing Polaroid Sx70 manipulated photos. The camera I use was made in 1973 by Edwin Land, the film is time-zero film. Here is the technique. I take the picture and it pops out of the camera and develops in front of me in 2 minutes at which point I heat the photo up with a hairdryer until the emulsion gets very soft and maliable. I then take a shaved down chopstick and move the emulsion around until I get the desired effect that I want, sometimes it takes an hour and other times it takes a couple of days as you can keep reheating the photograph. When this step is done I scan the picture into the computer, no digital manipulations on photoshop, the computer is used as a printer thats all. The computer is hooked up to a 65inch Giclee printer. The finished products are 50X50 inch canvas prints that are stretched like a painting and varnished with several coats of Soluvar. Other times they are printed on 50X50 inch watercolor paper and framed. They end up looking like paintings. Everyone thinks i use photoshop and I can assure you I haven't used photoshop since college!! I hang in a Gallery in Philadelphia called Orbit Gallery and have sold a number of pieces over the years. I am a certified massage therapist which helps pay the bills and I live with my Wife and 3 cats in a little row house in Manayunk, a simple life for a simple person! Hopefully with my photography I can leave a little bit of legacy behind, a little piece of something to say I was here in this world. Keep on viewing and shooting> Matthew
