THE CRIMSON TIDE. Alabama returns 16 letterwinners while bringing in 11 newcomers to make the 2019 squad under head coach Wes Hart. In 2018, the Crimson Tide went 8-8-3 overall and 2-6-2 in the SEC. Alabama earned a 3-0 win over UCF and a 4-0 victory against South Alabama in exhibition play before opening against the Cougars.

“I think we came out a little nervous with it being an exhibition tonight,” BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. “The girls put a lot ofpressureonthemselves,butweplayedwellandhadopportunities,itjustdidn’tcome.IjusttoldthemtofindMikaylafacingforwardbecausethatiswherewearemostdangerousandthefirstthingshedidinthesecondhalfwasfindElisewhoputtheballaway.”
ThefirsthalfsawthemajorityoftheactionontheCougars’attackinghalfastheytalliedatotalof15shotscomparedtotheTigers’one.SeniorEliseFlakeledtheteamwithfivetotalattemptsasthetwoteamswentintothelockerroomscorelessathalftime.
BYU took advantage early in the second half when Flake found the back of the net in the 47th minute as she rocketed a shot into the goal to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

Inthe73rdminute,seniorAlyssaJeffersonwasawardedafreekickoutsidethe18-yardboxandherkickfounditswayintothefarside of the goal to extend the Cougars lead to 3-0.

The Cougars recorded 27 shots and 13 corner kicks while Colorado College tallied four and one, respectively.

Followingthe2016season,thefieldwasdugoutandleveled.Drainageworkwas done and concrete was added to the press area. The grass was also replaced.
BYU has played at South Field since the program existed. The record was set on September 1, 2017 when 5,735 fans gathered to watch the Cougars take on No. 1 UCLA.
2018 Season Review
• EliseFlakeledtheBYUoffensewith14goalsandfiveassistsfor33points. Bella Folino and Makaylie Moore followed with six goals apiece whileMikaylaColohanandMadieGateseachtalliedfivegoals.Colohanled the team with seven assists to bring her total points to 17.
