+Artist and fashion culture

In the early 80’s fashion was really neutral. The most popular music artist would wear white or black clothing, for women they would be netted and floral, and for my white shirts with frilly material.

Later on in the 80’s that’s when fashion changed. A lot of people –including celebs- would wear bold and bright neon colours.

The artists that was well-known at the time were Madonna, Whitney Houston, George Michael, Prince, Boy George and Michael Jackson.

+In the late 80’s

In the later period of the 80’s, the fashion started to change. From dull plain colours to neon aluminous colours such as yellow, green, pink and orange. There was also different clothing that was in trend, like leggings, leg warmers and many more.

Even men started to explore make-up and would express themselves through jewellery and their clothing, such as boy George and George Michael.

+POLITICS Ronald Regan became the us president in 1981 Drugs were a serious problem, influenced the

synthesized music such as new wave. Human league made a lot of music about political topics. Shoulder pads became the fashion to show that the

women had power and there was more feminism during this time.

U2, incorporated elements of political commentary in there music.

New romantic was a pop culture movement with artists such as Adam and the Ants influenced by David Bowie.

New theme music on Top Of The Pops which was yellow pear by Phil Lynatt. Then the wizard by Paul hard.

Mtv was launched as well as cable televisions and channel 4

Radio luxumburg English channel closed 1989 began the golden age of hip hop Magazine’s were very colorful and crowed with

artists such as News week and Rolling Stones which had Annie Lennox and Boy George on the cover

+Technology

Hard rock, heavy metal and glam metal became in style

New wave music involving synthesizer and drum machines which were no longer popular in rock music but became mainstream in pop music

Techno style of dance became popular in gay communities

House style music emerged The new romantic was mainly associated with

synthesizers to create pop and rock music like Duran Duran, ultravox and visage
