COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
DONALD L. WEAVER, M.D. Director, National Health Service Corps
Donald L. Weaver, M.D., is the Director of the National Health Service Corps, Bureau of Health Care Delivery and Assistance, a post he has held since July, 1989.
He is a 1973 graduate of Harvard Medical School and served a two year pediatric residency at Children's Hospital Medical Center, also in Boston. Dr. Weaver holds the rank of Captain in the United States Public Health Service and has been the recipient of numerous U.S.P.H .S. awards, including the Public Health Service Citation Medal, Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Outstanding Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and in 1989, the Surgeon General's Exemplary Service Medal.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Practice at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. In previous assignments, Dr. Weaver served as Director, Division of Medicine, Bureau of Health Professions; Chief Medical Officer, Division of Primary Care Services, Bureau of Health Care Del ivery and Assistance and from 1975 to 1978 as a family physician assigned to Tooele, Utah, by the National Health Service Corps, the Federal agency he now heads.
