season as the head volleyball coach at

LynchburgCollegein2009.

TheHornets finishedher first seasonwith a 17-13 record andwon

eight matches in a row before the conference tournament. LC had two

student-athletesnamedtotheAll-ODACsecond-team.Lynchburgimproved

inEllinger’ssecondseasononthebench,winning20gamesandadvancing

intotheODACTournamentsecondroundforthefirsttimein10years.

In2008,theHornetsfinishedwitha16-16overallrecordandmade

theschool’sfirsteverappearanceintheODACChampionshipmatchasthe

seventhseed.The2009versionoftheHornetsboasteda20-8recordand

hadan8-2recordtoplacethirdintheODAC.Theeightwinsinconference

playisthemostsincetheHornetswent8-2during1999and2000.

Ellinger,namedtotheAll-ODACfirst-teamsin2000and2001,wasa

first-teamAll-Stateselectionin2001aswell.Sheholdstheschoolrecords

forkillsinamatch(29),season(478in2001)andforacareer(1,240from

1998-2001).Ellingeralsosettheconferencerecordforkillsinaseasonin

2001.

Ellingerreturnedtotheprogramin2004andassistedheadcoachDr.

MarieLewisfortwoseasonsuntilLewis’retirement.Shehadalsoassisted

atHeritageHighSchoolfrom2002-04andwasthejuniorvarsitycoach.

EllingerisIMPACTcertifiedandalsocurrentlyservesastheDirector

ofCoachingeducationandRecruitingfortheclubteamTCAVirginia.She

graduatedin2002fromLynchburgwithaB.A.inhumandevelopmentand

learningandearnedherMastersinEducationalLeadershipdegree.

teamfinishedtheseasonwitha20-8overall

recordalongwitha8-2markintheOldDo-

minionAthleticConference(ODAC).Forthe

secondtimeinthreeyearstheteamboasted

a20-wincampaignandmadeanappearance

intheODACtournament.

TheHornetsstartedouttheseason

strongrecord-

wins.Two

ofthesewins

camefromexcitingfive-setmatchesatthe

EasternMennoniteUniversityInvitational.

Thesquadmanagedtorallyforthewinover

NorthCarolinaWesleyanCollege25-20,

17-25,23-25,25-21,15-10intheday’sfirst

match.AgainstCatholicUniversity,theHor-

net’srelentlessoffenseanddefenseproved

unstoppableastheydefeatedtheCardinals

25-15,27-25,27-29,24-26,

15-10.

Randolph-MaconCollege,was

notabletogetpastLC.The

HornetsdefeatedtheYellow

Jacketsinfivegames,andasa

resultwereabletoclaimthepossessionoffirstplaceintheODACfora

shorttime.

Afteraheartbreakingfive-setregular

seasonODACmatchagainstVirginiaWes-

leyanCollegelateintheseasondidnotgo

Lynchburg’sway,theteamshowedanever

giveupattitudeandcamebacktodefeat

VWCinfoursetsinthequarterfinalsofthe

ODACtournament.

Variousteammemberswerehonored

withaspotontheAll-ODACsquadasa

resultofLC’stremendouseffortsthisseason.
