2009-2013 VW CC, 2006-2013 VW Passat B6, B7 Shifter Boot Swap Guide

1. First step is to gently loosen the 4 clips on the plastic holder, 2 on the front, 2 on the back, loosen the 2 back ones

first and the front ones take a little time, be gentle and you should be able to do it.

2. you will see this metal ring holding the shifter knob to the shifter to the shaft, if you try to pull it, it may not

separate, what you need to do is to use flathead screw driver to loosen the metal ring, others have cut the metal ring

but I found that hard to do, just loosen it, after a couple of tries, you’ll be able to pull the shifter knob straight up.

3. The shifter will look like this.

4. first, separate the inner black plastic holder from the silver outer plastic holder, then remove the 20 staplers

holding the shifter boot to the second black plastic holder.

5. They look like this.

6. Go to home depot to buy the smallest hose clamp ($1.7) to replace the metal ring.

7. Put the new boot back to the black inner holder and use a stapler to staple it back.

8. Put the black bolder back inside the silver plastic holder, it takes time here because your new leather boot will be

thicker than the OEM vinyl boot, be patient.

9. Put everything back and enjoy your new boot!
