What is Iowa Automotive Recyclers (IAR)? IAR is a non-profit trade association of businesses involved in the recovery and sale of green recy-cled parts from automobiles and those who support the automotive salvage and dismantling industry.

Strength in Numbers IAR membership means fellowship with other automotive recyclers by exchanging ideas and pro-moting good business practices. Through the thinking and ac-tion of its members, the Iowa Automotive Recyclers work to build the image of automotive recyclers. IAR enables mem-bers to get involved and accomplish collectively what none of us could do individually. Its strength lies in attracting members for the purpose of creating a pool of resources from which to draw ideas, energies, and finances.

Iowa Certified Automotive Recyclers Automo-tive (I-CARE) Program The Iowa Certified Automotive Recyclers Environmental Pro-gram is the industry standard of excellence that exemplified the Iowa Automotive Recyclers membership. The I-CARE Program is uniquely Iowan in that it includes all state and fed-eral regulation applicable to an Iowa automotive salvage facili-ty. The Iowa DNR staff praised the I-CARE program and the industry for being proactive in waste management and compli-ance. The goal is all Iowa Automotive Recycler members achieving and maintaining full compliance in safety, environmental and licensing regulations through the I-CARE certification program. I-CARE is an affiliate pro-gram of the national ARA Certified Auto Recyclers (CAR).

In Remembrance Earl Putt Earl Louis "Sonny" Putt was born July 25, 1925 in Berks Co., PA. He married Mary in 1946 and that same year they moved to Web-ster City, IA where he opened East Side Sal-vage. In 1962 the family moved to Westside where he opened Westside Auto Salvage which he ran for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Westside Fire Department. He belonged to the Moose Lodge and Westside Community Club, and served on the Westside Centennial Committee and Board of Directors of Iowa Automotive Recyclers. He died October 21, 2013 at St. Anthony Nursing Home, Carroll. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents and a son Carl Putt. Earl is survived by his son Richard Putt of Early; his grandchildren and great-grand children and other relatives and friends.

Scott Frank Glynn Scott Frank, 51, of Zearing, passed away on September 17, 2013. Scott was born to Glynn and Dagmar Frank on July 22, 1962 in Athens, Ga. He graduated from Ames High School in 1980 and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Business from Iowa State Uni-versity in 1986. Scott was an avid auto mechanic, owned his own business, and also took pride in managing Sam's Riverside Auto & Truck Parts in Des Moines. Scott was known for his generosity. He served for many years as a foster parent and Board of Directors for

the Iowa Automotive Recyclers. Scott is survived by two adopted sons, Josh Frank of AL and Jake Frank of Muscatine; and his foster sons, especially Jake Galles; his parents of Ames; brother Todd (Kim) Frank of Vinton; sisters Tracy (Chris Field-ing) Frank of Lincoln, NE and Susan Frank of Ames; extended family and many friends.

In Remembrance Dave Carroll Dave Carroll, 63, passed away on April 30, 2014 at Unity Point Hos-pice Taylor House. David Douglas Carroll was born April 27, 1951, to Gene and Frances Carroll, founder of Carroll Auto Wrecking of Des Moines. David started working with their father at the age of 14. In 1976, their father passed away, leaving David and his brother to con-tinue the family business with their mother. David became a distin-guished member of the automotive recycling community, and on May 31, 2012 retired as Vice President of Carroll Auto Wrecking, Inc. David is survived by his mother, Frances; sister, Debbie (Dan) Belieu; brother, De-wayne Carroll; daughters, Amy (Gary) Campbell, Kristen (John) Carroll, Kathryn (Jeff) Summy, and Alexis Carroll; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his brothers, Dennis, Danny, Dale and Darrell Carroll.
