Length of study:

JCs – 2 years

MI – 3 years

Cut-off Points:

To enter a JC:

L1R5 must be ≤ 20

To enter MI:

L1R4 must be ≤ 20

What does one study at the A-Levels?

H1 H2 H3

Half of H2 in terms of curriculum time

Equivalent to A-Level subjects prior to 2006.

Subjects with

opportunity for in-depth

study (e.g. advanced

content, research

paper, university module).

Three levels of study:

Usual subject combination:three H2s + one H1 content subjects

(one which must be contrasting)+ General Paper* + Project Work*

Students must also qualify for the subject specific minimum entry requirements for the course they wish to pursue.

ELR2B2 is used for admissions into the polytechnics.

the Arts Institutions

(NAFA and LASALLE)

The Arts Institutions

Courses are hands-on

with a focus in visual and

performing arts (e.g.

Design, Animation, Fine

Arts, Media, Dance,

Students graduate with a

diploma or a degree.

In addition to the GCE A-Levels qualifications, students interested in applying to the Arts

Institutions will also need to pass an entrance test or audition, which may include

performing a musical piece or submitting a portfolio.

JAE 2018

A quick guide

General Instructions• JAE is conducted annually by the Ministry of

Education (MOE) to apply for admission to:

– Junior Colleges (JC)/ Millennia Institute (MI)

– Polytechnics (Poly)

– Institute of Technical Education (ITE)

• Applications should be submitted online through

the JAE-Internet system (JAE-IS)

• You may view results of your application via

JAE-IS

Quick Guide for

• Students who are eligible for JAE will receive

Form A.

• All students successfully admitted to a school

through the Direct School Admission-JC (DSAJC)

/ Early Admission Exercise (PolyEAE) Exercise

will not be able to participate in JAE.

12th Jan Fri 3pm to 17th Jan Wed 4pm

• Applicants are

strongly

encouraged to

print and retain a

copy of the

Verification Slip

for their record

after they have

submitted their

applications.

Release of Posting Results

• The posting results of your applications are

tentatively scheduled for released on 1 February.

You may access results through:

– JAE-IS

– SMS (if you have provided a valid mobile

number)

• Appeals are to be made directly at the institution

within 2 working days after the official release

of posting results.

Acceptance of Offer

• Students who are offered a course in a JC/MI must report

to the school on the date stipulated ( tentatively 2 February)

• Students who are offered a course in a Poly/ITE should

expect to receive an enrolment package and are required to

complete online enrolment by the date stipulated to

confirm your acceptance for the course of study.

• Students who fail to report to the JC/MI/Poly/ITE on the

stipulated dates are deemed to have forfeited her place.

Direct Admissions Exercise

(DAE)

•You may participate in DAE conducted individually by the polytechnics.

•Visit the relevant polytechnic websites for more details.
