In a group full of people there will be a variety of face shapes, skin colour, hair colour, eye colours and loads of other differences.
These differences are called the variation within a species.
These differences are caused by two factors:• Genetics• EnvironmentMost characteristics are due to genetics and the environment
Characteristics are nearly always influenced by environment.
Environmental variation definition: Environmental variation is variation caused by where the organism lives and grows.
Some factors that can cause environmental variation:• Diet• Exercise• Temperature• Light level• Amount of water• Competition
ENVIRONMENT
An organisms different genes cause genetic variation.
All plants and animals have characteristics that are inherited from their parents.
Most animals and a lot of plants inherit genes from both the mother and the father.
The combination of these two creates genetic variation.
So, no two of the species are the same, except for identical twins!
