Plan
The 3rd floor is cantilevered to provide a canopy for the bus stop and a balcony for the user.
A 2nd stair is added that functions as struc-tural support of the building as the main access to the upper floors.
The middle is carved out to create a place for gathering.
The site in a standard ‘pancake’ structure.
A service elevator is use as a visual block for the loading dock, while a small wall is use to block the view of the busy intersection.
A semi-solid barrier is use to soften the visual of heavy traffic but also let the user see people activity across the street.
I want to focus on the human interaction that occurs within and around the building because it activates a space, creates a sense of community, encourages collaboration, and less likely to change than the building program. The indicator of this space is the number of people, the width of sidewalk, and the noise level. The perceived noise level and spatial availability in combination with the amount of people indicates the ability to interact.

Located in a busy setting, this site will witness a large number of people flowing by. Like the rocks in a stream, these structures do not stop the flow of people (water) by rather slow them down enough for a chance to interact with the people around them. Be-cause the structure element encroaches outwards and the structural support and wall is minimal, the line between public and private space is blurred, encour-aging the use of shared spaces.
