Birchfields Primary School

About our School …• It is a very big school – there

are about 700 pupils.• The school goes from Nursery

to Year 6.• There are 3 classes in each year.• There are 23 classes altogether.• Our school is a busy place, we

have about 2535 visitors each year.

• There is a garden for each class which we can decorate with plants.

About our headteacher…

• Our headteacher is called Miss Offord.

• She gives good work stickers to people each week.

• In a typical day at school, she has a meeting with the staff, answers emails and sends letters, makes phone calls and often has other meetings.

• Her favourite things are seeing children singing and performing and seeing their work.

About our caretaker…

• Our caretaker is called Tom Wiston.

• He has worked at Birchfields for 7 years.

• He arrives at school at 6.30am, opens up the classrooms and gates and makes sure there are no leaks.In the evening, he supervises the cleaners and locks up.

• He likes the wonderful children at Birchfields School.

Our EMA team…

• There are 5 people in the EMA team.

• Their job is to teach children who find English difficult.

• The EMA team at Birchfields is very important because we have lots of children who don’t speak English at home.

• The EMA teachers’ favourite thing is seeing children learning.

Our Learning Mentor…

• Our Learning mentor is Miss Clarke.

• She does lots of things including helping to run the breakfast club.

• She uses two rooms: The Blue room where children can go to be quiet and calm down and the Think room where sometimes children go to play and have fun at lunchtime.

About our lunchtime staff…

• Mrs Martindale is in charge of school dinners.

• She has worked at Birchfields for 10 years.

• Her job is to get the food ready.

• Manchester Fayre tells school what food to make.

• She likes cooking and her favourite thing is seeing children enjoying their food.
