The five days Faculty Development Programme on "Mathematics for
Communication and Signal Processing" was organised by the Department of
Electronics and Communication Engineering, MES College of Engineering
Kuttippuram during 8th to 12th January 2018. The FDP was sponsored by APJ Abdul
Kalam Technological University. The FDP started on 8th January and was
inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Elizabeth Elias. Prof. (Dr.) Gopakumar A, Head of the
Department, ECE, Dr. A. S. Varadarajan, Prinicipal, Jb. K.K. Aboobacker,
Chairman, Dr. C.P. Muhammed, Joint Secretary, and Dr. K.P. Muhammed, Director
graced the occasion with their presence. A brief overview about the FDP was given
by Mr. Edet Bijoy K and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shaeen K.
The main objective of the 5-day FDP was to develop strong basics in mathematical
concepts for understanding communication and signal processing theories. The
course covered the mathematical foundation needed to understand the various
signal processing techniques. The topics covered were Multirate Signal Processing,
Mathematical Concepts and methods for Signal Processing, Linear Algebra,
Probability and Random Process, Abstract Algebra, System Modelling,
Homomorphic Signal Processing, Transforms in Signal Processing and Graph
Theory.
The sessions were handled by eminent experts from prestigious institutions
in India. The resource persons were, Dr. Shayan G. Srinivasa, Dept. of
Electronic Systems Engineering, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, Dr.
