Who can participate?

Eligible students entering 9th through 12th

grade will be able to enroll in this academy.

Students entering 7th or 8th grade can

prepare to enter the academy by taking

Vietnamese 1P and 2P at Dale Junior High

School. Native Vietnamese speakers are

not required to take Vietnamese 1P and 2P

but an entrance exam is required. Students

need to possess the fundamentals of

communication skills in Vietnamese to be

able to participate in this academy.

Do You Live Outside of the Anaheim Union High School District Area?

School will accept all students from all

districts in the Southern California regardless

of your address. Parents will need to

request an Interdistrict Transfer form from

the district of residence. After it is approved,

bring it to the AUHSD Office and fill out the

registration application to attend Dale Junior

High School or Magnolia High School.

Students will have a better opportunity to earn the Seal of Biliteracy that will be affixed to their diploma.

Qualified students will wear a Dual Language Medal and Sash over their gowns at the graduation ceremony.

Students will have an opportunity to obtain an internship at one of the participating Vietnamese Businesses through AIME.

Students will have a better opportunity to receive college scholarships of $10,000 annually for up to four years from Amazon Future Engineer and paid summer internships at Amazon.

On average, jobs requiring coding skills pay $22,000 more per year than jobs that don’t.

What is the Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion Academy? It is an academic program which builds proficiency in both English and Vietnamese.

What will students learn in the Dual Language Immersion Academy?

Students will take two classes in Vietnamese: Vietnamese Language and AP Coding/Computer Science - No prior knowledge is required. All other classes will be in English.

Dual Language Immersion Academy is not replacing English with Vietnamese, but it provides students the opportunity to acquire a second language. Many of us do not remember our second language, because we learned it out of context and in isolation. Many of us forget our first language if we do not use it often. By enrolling in the Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion Academy, students will retain the Vietnamese Language much longer.
