Definition of Leisure: Time for relaxation or hobbies.

Why People enjoy Leisure: - they feel relaxed and refreshed during and after undertaking what they would consider a leisurely activity or a hobby.

Relation to other Aspects of Life:

What are some leisure activities:

• Sports• Gardening• Entertainment – such as going to the movies or

watching television.• Coffee with Friends• Walking in the natural environment• Going to the gym

Concept

• Maintaining the aesthetics of leisure activities.

The natural environment is the most aesthetically appealing aspect of leisure activities, assisting with relaxation and freedom felt whilst taking part in this aspect of life. Maintaining what is left of the natural environment and utilising technology to stimulate this is the major concept of the 5 degrees warmer environment of Tasmania.

How this will be maintained at 5 degrees warmer…

• Technology• Controlled indoor environments• Altered routines of people to cope with the

extreme temperatures – more holidays, community involvement, night activity, and indoor controlled environments.

• Video game consoles that stimulate the natural environment before 5 degrees warmer - the senses of smell, touch, site, and temperature

• Green houses (controlled environment)• Genetically modified plants and wildlife• Regeneration of the natural environment using

the above

An artificial stimulation of the environment using technology. Use senses such as site, touch,

and smell.

People will still want to enjoy hobbies and leisure activities after work, on weekends and holidays

with family and friends…

Much like indoor recreation centers

that exist today

People will be able to enjoy fishing within controlled artificial or regenerated dams and lakes, where the temperature of the water can be monitored/controlled to suit the particular species of fish that is being farmed.

The ocean currents and winds will be much different and highly un predicable within the 5 degrees warmer environment so peoples attitude towards activities such as sailing will be one of concern because of the danger. However with more highly developed technology it is still possible to sail, and go out fishing as boats and sailing equipment will have adjusted to this new climate.

The overall behavior of people towards this particular aspect of life will be one of enjoyment – they will want to learn from the mistakes of the past and continue to enjoy life to the fullest, through the use of technology, and attempts to regenerate natural ecosystems.

People will want to continue to take part in the things that they love – their leisure time

People will still be able to go out and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with friends and family.

With an increase in holidays, family and social relationships will be able to function, along with this leisurely activities can be enjoyed, either individually or socially.
