one of the largest orders placed with terex cranes in latin America. "the business deal with PdvsA places us at a new level within latin America, as it rapidly increases our participation and terex brand presence in the venezuelan cranes market," says ivens.
unlike conventional cranes, the models acquired by PdvsA are flat top cranes, which provide greater application flexibility, including the ability to operate in smaller locations or with operational height limitations. The CTT 161A-6TS units have a maximum boom length of 65 m and a 6 ton maximum lift capacity - 1.45 tons with the boom fully extended. The CTT 91-5 TS12 units have a maximum boom length of 50 m and a 5 ton maximum lift capacity - 1.4 tons with the boom fully extended. ■
terex latin America has contracted an order to provide 76 flat top tower cranes to
PdvsA – Petróleos de venezuela s.A. Manufactured at the terex cranes facility in fontanafredda, Italy, the order consists of 38 Terex CTT 161A-6TS and 38 Terex CTT 91-5 TS12 model tower cranes. “this order reinforces the value and quality of our brand and our commitment towards the venezuelan market," says ivens Encarnação, general director of terex cranes for latin America. the state company will use these new tower cranes in a social project to build 50,000 dwellings per year. ILLUMINATING THE BELO MONTE PROJECT
b elo Monte's hydroelectr ic power plant, which is being
bui l t on the xingu river within Altamira's region in Pará state, is one of the most important ongoing projects in the north region of the country. After i ts complet ion, i t shal l produce about 4.500 Mw per year, which represents approximately 10% of Brazi l ’s nat ional consumption. in terms of instal led power, belo Monte wi l l be the third largest hydroelectr ic power plant in the world and the largest one in brazi l .
to speed up the project, the contracting firm responsible to build the plant acquired a total of 70 Terex RL 4000 light towers. the light towers are towable and equipped with a telescopic boom and a manual winch. they have an adjustable head to position light exactly where it is needed and provide a lighting area of 7.50 ha and 4000 W.
the light towers were acquired through deltamaq, a terex distributor within the state of Pará. deltamaq has stood out as a top quality service provider in the distribution of machinery, parts, technical support and rental of equipment. headquartered in Ananindeua, in the metropolitan area
Seventy Terex® RL 4000 light towers sold to Deltamaq, in Pará, will help illuminate the construction worksite of Belo Monte's hydroelectric power plant.
of belém, the company also has branches in Maranhão, Amapá, Amazonas, roraima, rondônia and Acre.
currently, the light towers are being transported from belém to the belo Monte work site. According to Mário Moreira nóbrega, director of deltamaq, the key benefits that the light towers provide are agility and versatility. "by using the terex light towers, it will be possible to extend the work shifts, thus contributing to the completion of the project within the established time," explains nóbrega.
in order to provide ful l support to the contract ing f i rm bui lding belo Monte's power plant, deltamaq wi l l open a branch in the region as the project is est imated to last for 7 years. ■

Ethis January, in partnership with dnit-df - national department of transporta-
tion infrastructure, terex hosted a seminar on the quality of Pa-ving and new technologies that are changing the road building industry. the event was held at dnit's headquarters, in brasília, federal district.
the audience was comprised of engineers and technicians from dnit-df and authorities from agencies linked to the government infrastructure sector. Among those attending the event were Engineer Alex Peres Mendes ferreira, general coordinator of the cgMrr (general coordination of road Maintenance and repair) and Engineer luiz somacal neto, with cgMrr, as well.
the seminar provided participants with the opportunity to discuss the current conditions of the brazilian road network, while updating them on new terex technology, such
as the wMA (warm Mix Asphalt). this is the newest technology for making and recycling asphalt, which incorporate several benefits, including the improved quality of supplies, the rapidity of the production process and the easiness of the equipment's operation. the seminar was split across the following subjects: "background and types of asphalt plants"; "cases in the paving area"; "customization of asphalt plants"; and "new equipment".
the program ended with a roundtable discussion on paving, which created an intense exchange
of ideas and experiences amongst all attendees. the discussion was led by Engineer Elton Antonello, Product Engineering Manager of terex, and Armando Morilha, from MecPavi, which provides terex with consulting services. the event was a major success, showing how new terex technology can change the brazilian road building industry. ■
