Immediately following the close of convention, a receiving line will be held for the newly installed

state officers, the International representative and the immediate past state president.

Lucinda Jensen Biography

Cindy was initiated into Chapter BV, Eugene, OR in 1988 where she served in every office. She served as

Chairman of the Guards at the 2002 state convention, served on the Oregon State Membership

Committee, and had the privilege of helping to organize and become a charter member of Chapter FZ in

Eugene, Oregon. In 2004 Cindy was nominated to the state board of Oregon and was instrumental in the

revitalization of Oregon State Chapter and the organization of five new local chapters during those seven

years.

As a youth Cindy was an active member of Camp Fire Girls and trained as a pairs figure skater with her

brother. Cindy earned a BA in English with a minor in Physical Education from Humboldt State University.

She then married Gary Jensen and spent two years in North Carolina at the Marine Corps Air Station at

Cherry Point. During this time Cindy was able to teach as a contract substitute in the Havelock, NC area.

When they returned to California for Gary’s work in the timber industry, she completed the requisite

teacher certification at San Bernardino State University. They then moved to Oregon which has now been

their home state for forty-two years. After starting her family Cindy did not return to classroom teaching

but chose to teach quilting, baby swim/gym for the YMCA, and eventually became the training director

for the local Camp Fire Council. The opening of an ice arena in her community allowed Cindy to return to

her great love, ice skating where she coached, served as skating director, and eventually became the arena

manager. During her professional career she received the Ice Skating Institute 2001 and 2010 District

Merit Award for achievement in figure skating coaching and program directing. In 2003 Cindy became a

Master rated coach with the Professional Skaters Association. In 2011 she retired after twenty one years

of teaching thousands of community members not just how to skate but to love skating.

Cindy and Gary have been married for 44 years and have been blessed with three wonderful children:

Kirsten, BT/OR is married to Jeremy and has two children, Kellan (8) and Grace (6); her son Dane and wife

Jackie have two children, Ella (5) and Beck (3); and her daughter, Katrina, FZ/OR, and husband Russ are

the parents Mason (5).

Gary and Cindy feel blessed to be able to appreciate the Oregon outdoors and all its wonders. They have

enjoyed 40 years of active membership at St. Thomas Episcopal Church and managing their tree farm.

Cindy also enjoys quilting, tending her garden, card making and scrapbooking, and ice skating. Cindy says

that P.E.O. chapter life has enriched her life and that it is truly a gift to be able to share the blessings of

life with sisters.

SONG LYRICS FOR P.E.O. CONVENTION 2014

O Canada

O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Star Spangled Banner

O say can you see by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;

O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

P.E.O. Grace

We give thee thanks dear Lord above, For food and health and all thy love. Grant that our sisterhood may grow,

Look down and bless our P.E.O

TRIBUTE SONGS (Sing to the tune of the song indicated in parenthesis)

It’s A Small World High Hopes

It's a world of laughter, a world of tears Just what makes that little old ant It's a world of hopes and a world of fears Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware Anyone knows an ant, can’t It's a small world after all Move a rubber tree plant

It's a small world after all But he’s got high hopes It's a small world after all He’s got high hopes It's a small world after all He’s got high, apple pie It's a small, small world In the sky hopes

There is just one moon and one golden sun So any time you’re gettin’ low And a smile means friendship to everyone ‘Stead of lettin’ go Though the mountains divide Just remember that ant And the oceans are wide Oops there goes another rubber tree It's a small world after all Oops there goes another rubber tree

It's a small world after all Oops there goes another rubber tree It's a small world after all Plant It's a small world after all It's a small, small world
