DeontrayTydrezWilliams,18,of FreemontRoadinLongs,was charged by Officer MattMahon last Tuesdaywith as-saultandbatteryinthethirddegree.Hewasheld at the J.Reuben Long Detention Cen-ter near Conway for about aday,releasedjustbeforenoonlastWednesdayafterpostinga$2,000bond,jailrecordsshow. Teacher Jessica Handee,23, told police that Williamsbecame angry when she re-fusedhisrequest togo to thebathroom, “because he hadalready gone once,” and thatthe teen cursed as he got up

andapproachedheratthedoor,shovedherintoaconcretewallbefore forcing the door openandenteringahallway. Another student held Wil-liams back as he “started tocomeatheragain,”thereportsaid. Gunfire on Queen StreetlandedalocalmaninjailFri-daynight,aTaborCityPoliceDepartmentreportshows. BrianJacquar“B.J.”Bell,20,of SealS t ree t ,w a schargedb yM S G TMichaelJamisonwithdis-c h a r g -i n g aweaponinto oc-cup i edproperty following the 8:15p.m.shootingintotheValerieBryanthomeonQueenStreet,Jamison’sreportsaid. BellwasheldattheColum-busCountyDetentionCenterinWhiteville under a $50,000securedbond. Bryantshowedrespondingofficers a bullet hole in herbedroomwall.Thebullet“camethroughherbedroomwallandhitawallinthehallway,”thereport said. “Thebullet is lo-catedsomewhereinthehallwaywall.” Two men were standingoutside,onthecorner,whenawhite “Kia Sonata” drove by,andBell‘startedshootingoutof thecar,”Bryanttoldpolice.Anotherwitness echoed Bry-ant’sstory,thereportsaid. JamisonspottedaHyundaiSonata at aBayStreet home,with the door open, andmetwithCapt.DeanFoleynearby.Officers watched as the cardrove away, and stopped theHyundaionWateringStreet. Bellwasinthebackseatof thecar,withCharlesBillingsJr., the report said. LouannLocklear was driving, withAmandaRizzoalsointhefrontseat,thereportsaid. Policefounda9mmhandguninthecar,nearBell,thereportsaid.Thegunwasloaded,witharoundinthechamber. BothwomentoldpoliceBellhad fired shots from the car,Jamisonwrote in his report.However,thewomeninwrittenstatementsdidnotsayBellhadbeenshooting,only“thattheydidn’tknowwhoshotfirst.”

“There were Tupper-warecontainersallovertheplacepacked fullof pills,”Det.AaronHerringof theColumbusCountySheriff ’sOfficesaidof ahomeonMillBranchRoadinTaborCitylastweek. “There were so many,postalinspectorstookthemtoawarehouseinCharlottetocount.I’veneverseensomany pills,” the narcoticsdetectivesaid. JamesDouglasCorbett,44,andCorbett’swife,StacyHardwickCorbett,41,wereeachchargedwithonecounteachof possessionof ana-bolicsteroidswithintenttosell,Herringsaid. Postalinspectorsseized43,536steroidpills,92310mmvialsininjectablesteroids,plus80morevialsinaUPSpackage. HerringsaidheexpectedU.S. Postal inspectors tobringmorechargesagainstthe Corbetts who were al-legedly taking part in aprogram of shipping con-trolledmedicationtopeoplewhoorderedthemfromanInternetsite.

Steroid pills, more than 43K, seized from TC area homeTaborCity,Clarendon,Shal-lotte, Leland, Wilmington,andelsewhere.Herringsaid350 packages were mailedby the Corbetts duringthe three months of JulythroughSeptember,accord-ingtopostalrecords. “TheCorbettsweremail-ingthepackagesof steroidpillsandtestosteronetocus-tomerswithbogusnames,butrealaddresses,”Herringexplained. Hesaidthemanandwifenevermet the personwhostartedtheminthebusinessin2009,andwhopaidthemfortheirshippingservice.

Return addresses PillsarrivedfromChina,GreatBritainandCanadatoaddressesinMyrtleBeachandWilmington,wheretheCorbettswouldreceivethepackages.Returnaddressesonthepackageswouldcon-sist of a bogus name of apersonorfakebusiness,buttoa correctaddress some-whereinColumbusCounty,Herringsaid. Packageswerenottobereturned to the Corbett’shome. Herring said he re-ceived a tip about the pillservicefromapersonwhoreceived a package thatcouldn’t be delivered and

was returned to the inno-centperson’shome. Herringsaidsomeof themedicationshippedconsist-edof injectablesteroids,but95percentof thebusiness

appeared to be handled inpillform. James Corbett’s occu-pation on the local arrestreportshowedhimas“un-employed.” His wife is a

phlebotomistatSoutheast-ern General Hospital inLumberton, according toHerring.
