Activity Report w.e.f. session 2017-19
This department started in the year 2017 and the first batch was started in the session 2017 -19 in
which total 11 students took admission in Journalism. One student form other subject (geography)
joined the class. One male student left college due to health issue, therefore at present in third year
(5th
semester), 09 girls are in Journalism and one from other subject.

Department of journalism currently has 35 students in which there are 31 girls and only four boys.
ACTIVITIES
Session 2018-19
19-09-18 (Field Work): One Day Trip to Santoshi Mata Temple and fair at Ladraur.
Objective: To train the students in taking interviews of the people (Interview skills)
Brief Description: A field tour to the local temple (Santoshi Mata) was organized to
inculcate the skills of interviewing among the students of Journalism. They prepared some questions
about the temple and interviews were conducted with the temple committee and people who look
after the temple. The concerned teacher remained on spot to observe their skills and the students were
directed to prepare a feature on the temple when get back to college also. In the next day class they
were told about their mistakes and teacher gives feedback to each student. Students also shared their
experiences with the teacher.

03-12-18 Cleanliness Campaign:
Objective: To sensitize the students about the Clean India mission and realize the social
responsibility to keep our surrounding clean.
Students of JMC, second year, participating in swachhta abhiyan in college.
24-27 December, 2018 Industrial training tour of Students of BJMC third semester to AIR
Shimla and Door Darshan, Shimla.
Objective: To provide practical training and exposure of nearby media houses to the students of
BJMC.
All India Radio Visit
During the tour, they visited all india radio’s different studio, live program and editing skills. They also learnt
how to connect different studios, how to relay programs for Delhi station. An interaction program was also
held between the additional station director Dr Heer Chand Negi and program executive Mr Prafull Kumar
Sinha.

Doordarshan Kendra Shimla Visit : On the other day, students were taken to Doordarshan Kendra Shimla to
where they saw the studio set up, camera crew, anchor and technical use of console. They also visited the
production rooms, control room and duty room.

Apart from this, students visited Indian institute of advanced studies, kufri fun world, world heritage kalka
shimal railway station and Himachal Pradesh university.

03-04-19 Quiz competition on the theme “MEDIA DEMOCRACY AND ELECTIONS”
Objective: To let the students know about the basics of election, democracy and media as this was the
time when the loksabha elections were to be conducted across the country.

27-03-19 World Theatre Day celebration by the Department of Journalism
Objective: Theatre is one of the oldest medium of mass communication, therefore a seminar was organized on
world theatre day, to make students aware about the theatre and the role of theatre as a tool of mass
communication.
