VACCINE MOMENT IN HISTORY
3
SMaRT AFIX is being developed to:• Support CDC VFC Program goals and objectives
regarding vaccination coverage by enhancing Awardee IIS capability to provide a uniform standardized provider-level AFIX assessments
• Implement a standardized and efficient primary method for reporting AFIX results to CDC
• Provide an IIS agnostic user interface which leverages economies of scale
AFIX-IIS INTEGRATION PROJECT
4
It is a Joint Development Project with the CDC, AIRA and 19 state awardees representing a variety of IIS platforms
• IWeb (11)• MT-WIR (1) • Independent partners versions (7 states with 6 different platforms)

So many moving parts!

WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON?FORECASTER
• The current STC Forecasting module has been tested using the CDSi test cases to identify variances.
• Work is underway to update STC’s Stand Alone Forecaster (ImmuCast)
• Completion is planned for July 2016. Will strictly follow the CDSi project guidelines
22
FORECASTER CHANGES: WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
• Results may vary slightly from IIS forecasting– CDSi forecasts DTaP #4 at 15 months instead of
12 months as some IIS do to avoid missed opportunity
– Past Due Dates may be calculated differently• In most cases CDSi uses maximum recommended date +
4 weeks as Past Due. • IWeb uses maximum recommended date + 30 days.
23
FORECASTER CHANGES: WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
– AFIX will not allow any user modifications to forecasting
– CDSI will be implemented in IWeb but IWeb clients can set forecast preferences within IWeb if needed
– ImmuCast for IIS will also retain ability to set forecast preferences
24
WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON?MIROW: Management of Patient Active/Inactive Status in Immunization Information Systems,
2015• Patient Active/Inactive Status (PAIS): the
concept of responsibility for immunization of a patient – Supports efforts to integrate AFIX program
functionality into IIS– Defined Rules for patient status at:
• Provider organization level • NEW: Geographic jurisdiction level• Inclusion of patients in assessment reports and
reminder/recall
