YOU can predict and create the FUTURE
And you have to….
Because the future comes much faster than we think…
Exponential acceleration 2 times 2 times 2 times 2…
“Africa is expected to grow exponentially till 2050 and achieve a GNP greater than the US and Europe combined”
“Every three years, life expectancy on the continent increases by a year”
“11 out of the 20 fastest growing countries globally are in sub-Saharan Africa”
“1/3 belongs to the middle class”
MEGATRENDS FOR AFRICA!!
expanding middle classes!better education
deeper mobile penetration greater access to credit!
people live longer!lower corruption across the continent
productive urban centers
from poverty to prosperity
But until it shows, let’s start by telling the stories…
“Africa is no longer just a source for ethnic
inspiration but a fountain of original
talent that brings fresh blood to the
international fashion industry ”!
– David Tlale Africa’s best-know fashion designer

from ME to caring communitiesIt takes a village to raise a child...
The global 'sharing economy' taps into thessence of African culture
We live in a time of connectivity, where prosperity and well-being are determined by access – to people, information,
learning, tools, health care,The mobile market will continue to grow exponentially in the
years to come, bringing most of the African population online (primarily via the mobile phone)
from ownership to access
The collaborative sharing economy
from servicing to activationUnderstand the deeper levels of African culture –
and that each country has it’s own “DNA”. Because to activate, engage and co-create is a
matter of “listening louder”!
Henri is a phenomenal entrepreneur and innovator. Four years ago, he identified a need. He saw that in Africa, mobile phone penetration rates were skyrocketing, but that basic electricity infrastructure was not.
There were now millions of people with mobile phones, but nowhere to charge them. !
Since then, he founded African Renewable Energy Distributor (a-r-e-d.com) and developed a high-tech solar powered mobile kiosk that can charge all kinds of small electronic devices. These kiosks use
smart-grid technology so that they are the most efficient, easiest to maintain, and highest quality of all of the charging kiosks. Henri also uses a franchise business model, so that with each new kiosk he actually
creates another micro-entrepreneur.
Sum-up & future advice!
1. Take part in the new (story of) Africa and find ways to embrace the positive megatrends
2. Utilize the open, collaborative, sharing economy 3. “Listen louder” and help or activate the Africans so
that they can drive innovation and progress themselves
