Just off Bell Shoals Rd.near FishHawk resides a littleslice of heaven beside theAlafia River, complete withshady oak trees, pasture-landand a little dog named Doodlethat anxiously awaits rides inan electric golf cart. Here iswhere Red and Nell Glass callhome, and it is also here thatthey have a clean, comfortablemobile home for rent.

They are currently seekinga tenant, perhaps a marriedcouple, for the home that willalso help them with day-to-daytasks such as cooking breakfast anddinner, helping with laundry, keepingtheir own home tidy, grocery shoppingand other miscellaneous odds andends things. In return for the help, Redwill be renting the mobile home for$500 per month plus electricity. Thepreviously mentioned golf cart will beavailable to go between homes as themobile home and Red’s home areroughly an eighth of a mile apart on thesame property. The property itself isgated for added security. The mobilehome is a three-bedroom, two-bathhome with a large, well-lit kitchen, asmall patio and a garden tub in theMaster Bathroom. Just yards from themobile home is a bend in the AlafiaRiver, and just along the oppositebank, carved deep into the old mud,are the original wagon tracks fromwhen the area was first settled.

In addition to looking for a coupleto rent the mobile home, Red and Nell

are looking to pay for the daily help forhousekeeping up to 2-4 hours per day.

“Compensation will be $10 perhour for any work or time involved,”said Red.

you could possibly need. Ideally, Redand Nell would like an older couplewith good character to share theirproperty and help them with their dailytasks. Red enjoys fishing and wouldlove help loading and unloading hisfishing boat, as well as help in handlingthe boat when fishing. Nell thoroughly

enjoys sewingand wouldlove someoneshe couldshare herhobby with.

Red andNell havelived in thearea since1970, whenthey movedhere fromHouston, TX.They have sixchildren, 14grandchildren

and just as many greatgrandchildren. In July, theywill have celebrated their65th wedding anniversary.

Red and his family havebeen productive members ofthe community for manyyears. Red was a MerchantMarine in World War II andthey settled in the area in theearly 1970s. They boughtwhat is now Brandon RentalCenters, which now servesboth Seffner and Riverviewand is still family-owned andrun by Red’s son.

fish from the shore.
