90-94, 95-99, 100+

ABOUT THE EVENT:The local qualifying events will be held at TheVillages, starting April 4, 2008. The top five (5)athletes in their age divisions will be invited tocompete in the Florida Senior Games StateChampionships in Lee County, Florida.

OPEN AND EXHIBITION EVENTS:“OPEN” events are ones in which an athlete isnot required to participate in a sanctionedFlorida Local Senior Games Qualifier:Volleyball, Pickleball, Bocce and Archery areconsidered “OPEN” events. “EXHIBITION”events are events offered at the local level, theyare not a qualifying event in the Florida StateSenior Games 2008. Line Dancing is consideredan “EXHIBITION” event.

DATES & TIMES: 2008 Senior Games Qualifying Events will beheld in The Villages starting April 4. Times andlocations vary by event, therefore athletes needto refer to the schedule to the left for moredetailed information. Other events will be heldthroughout the year, please visit www.district-gov.org for more information.

SPORT REGISTRATION:You may enter as many sports, or events with-in a sport as you desire as long as they are notheld at conflicting times, with these exceptions:Swimming—up to six events and Archery, oneevent. Check the schedule of events carefullyfor the date, times, and sites of the sports youwish to enter. It is the responsibility of the ath-lete to make sure that there are no scheduleconflicts.

GENERAL RULES:All sports/events shall be governed by the rulesof the National Governing Body for that sport asmodified herein, in the best interest of the partic-ipants. It is the responsibility of the participantsto familiarize him/herself with the rules andrequirements of the Florida Senior Games.Competition must take place to determine qual-ifiers. If there is only one individual entered inan age group, that athlete must enter and com-plete the event in order to be given the goldmedal and to qualify for the State SeniorGames. Athletes should be placed in the agedivision nearest their own in order to compete.Competition for the athletes in this “closest age

division” shall be considered exhibition.If there is only one team entered in an age divi-sion, that team should be given exhibitionopportunities with the closest age division. Noteam shall be qualified without participating in aqualifying game.The NSGA shall determine whether an athletehas met the qualifying criteria for “limited”sports events.

HOW TO REGISTER:To enter The Villages Local Florida SeniorGames, please refer to the “How To Register”section, in this program. Athletes must com-plete and return the official entry form(s) byFriday, March 7, 2008.PLEASE COMPLETE ALL PARTICIPANT INFOR-MATION AND SIGN THE WAIVER. ONLY COM-PLETE ENTRY FORMS WILL BE PROCESSED.NO REFUNDS.

ATHLETE REGISTRATION PACKET: All registered participants will receive an athleteregistration packet which will include a person-alized schedule, commemorative t-shirt andone Senior Games memorabilia. Packets can bepicked up April 2 and 3 at the BridgeportHeadquarters. Further bracket and flight scheduleinformation will be available day of event at eventsite.

CELEBRATION OF ATHLETES:All registered athletes and guests are invited toattend the Celebration of Athletes at theSaddlebrook Softball Complex, Friday, April 4th.The celebration will feature music, games anddinner. Meal tickets will be required for dinnerand must be requested on your registrationform. Tickets are FREE for ATHLETES ONLY.Please make sure to fill out this box on yourentry form. There will also be a checkbox forany additional guest(s) that the athletes want tobring to the celebration. The cost for your guestis $10.00 and is to be paid in advance at thetime of registration.

INSURANCE/MEDICAL:Insurance is the responsibility of each partici-pant. Every participant should be sure to haveproof of insurance.

AWARDS: Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awardedto the first, second, and third place finishers ineach age division, per event. Runner-up ribbonswill be given to the fourth and fifth place. Firstthrough fifth place qualifiers will advance to theFlorida Senior Games State Championships inLee County, Florida. All qualified athletes willreceive State registration information by mail.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:The Villages District Recreation Team is notresponsible for changes to the event program,postponements or cancellations due toinclement weather or other circumstancesbeyond our control. In the event of inclementweather, every effort will be made to completeall games and events scheduled. However, TheVillages Recreation Team reserves the right tochange the schedule or format of the competi-tion, postpone events or even cancel events dueto inclement weather. NO REFUNDS will begiven as a result of these circumstances.
