Overhead ceiling hoist project

in St. Joseph’s Hospital, British Columbia,

Canada

1998: installation of 65 overhead ceiling hoists in a regional hospital in British Columbia, Canada.

2001: the follow-up investigation by theCanadian Working Environment Authority showed the following:

- A reduction of 58% in the number of transfer accidents

- A reduction of the hospital’s costs related to transfer accidents from$ 196,000 per year to $92,000

- In this case the installation of ceiling hoists had been recovered in only3.9 years
