Asarecumbentbikeriderexclusively,Iamwonderingifyouwouldconsiderchangingyourpolicyaboutthem,andallowthemtobetransportedinthebaggagecarhangingonthebikerack.Myshort-wheelbasedrecumbentwouldfitperfectlyintherackasithasthesamewheelbaseasastandardbike.IhavebeenanAmtrakcustomerforalmost40years,andhopetocontinue.Pleaseconsiderchangingyourpolicy.

Currently,onlystandardsizebicycles(50lbs.orless,70"x41"x8.5")willfitinourracks.Weareworkingonmakingupdatesthatwillallowustoaccommodatenon-standardbicyclesliketandems,trikesandrecumbents.Thewayourbikeracksareboltedintothetrainwallsrequirebikestobestoredvertically.Whileasimilarwheelbasecouldtechnicallyfitinsomecases,thewaybikesarehungnexttoeachothermaynotfitwiderbicyclesnexttoastandardbicycle.Inaddition,wecanonlysellandmanageonetypeofbicycleinventoryatthistime.Wehaveplansunderwaytoadjustbicyclerackspacingaswellastoenhanceourreservationsystemtoaccommodatemultipletypesofbicycleinventory.
