A Message from the
Chamber CEO... This year, the Chamber plans to continue creating programs that will help strengthen the business community. With the vision and direction of the Chamber Board of Directors, we have developed a new 3 year plan that will keep the Chamber focused to deliver our top 5 priorities which are:
-Creating a Strong Local Economy -Representing the Interest of Businesses -Providing Networking Opportunities -Providing Information and Resources -Promoting the Community
One of the newest programs we are confident will bring education and awareness to our businesses is our Governmental Affairs Committee. The mission of this committee is to provide a perspective on local, state and federal policy issues that are impacting the Tracy business community. Through the Governmental Affairs Committee, the Chamber aims to further support businesses and continue finding solutions to their issues and challenges. I encourage you to get involved in this new committee by attending an upcoming meeting.
In 2016, the Chamber’s primary focus will be on understanding the needs and challenges of our business community. We intend to continue hosting business walks as well as sending out surveys to obtain the information necessary to determine how the Chamber can best serve the business community.
Another priority in our strategic plan for 2016 is to connect job seekers to jobs and we plan to partner with local agencies to support their efforts of promoting job placement and training opportunities. The Chamber also plans to continue growing the Hire Me First Youth Internship program in order to create more opportunities for our youth to be better prepared for the workforce.
If you have not attended a networking coffee, mixer or lunch meet-up lately, I encourage you to check out the calendar (pg. 8) and find time this month to devote at least (1) hour to networking. Relationship building should be part of your strategy to grow your business, and the Chamber has events every week to support your network-ing needs!
Your Chamber of Commerce is here to serve you and we want to hear from you, so please let us know how we can better support your business and help you thrive.
-Sofia Valenzuela, CEO, Tracy Chamber of Commerce

What’s Happening
in your City... Economic Development Update: The I-580 Express Lanes, on east- and westbound I-580 through the Tri-Valley, will open soon. A FasTrak® or FasTrak Flex Toll Tag is required to use the lanes. Carpoolers ride toll-free with FasTrak Flex! Getting your FasTrak toll tag and opening an account is easy at www.BayAreaFastTrak. The City of Tracy wants to hear your
feedback on what matters to you most about the community. Share your voice and let them know what your priorities are by completing the Community Feedback Survey found on the City website, www.ci.tracy.ca.us
In early February, vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured from the 11th Street Bridge to the new detour bridge until construction is completed in 2017. The detour bridge will have a 35 mph speed limit, and will be reduced to one lane in each direction, which may prompt traffic delays. It’s important for residents, businesses and visitors be aware of the potential traffic impacts. The actual date of the switch will be announced shortly.
