Editor’s Message
Dear Readers,
It saddens me to inform you all about the demise of our beloved Founder Chairman, Shri K.L. Gupta Ji on 2nd January 2017. He was the mind behind our GNIOT Group of Institutions and it was due to his sheer perseverance that this group has scaled a lot of verticals and was striving to continue with the same in coming times too.
For the past few years, he was not keeping good health and even that did not discourage him to be actively associated with the workings of the Institute. He was always there to guide us in all our endeavors. The void created by his death can never be lled.
With the re-launch of the magazine last year, Founder Chairman Sir gave us his blessings and asked us to bring a better version of the issue every time.
Udgam is a bi-annual newsletter and this current issue covers the major events that happened in our institute in this semester i.e. July-Dec 2016. We started this semester, by welcoming a new batch of students in B.Tech, MCA, MBA and PGDM streams. Mr. S. M. H. Siddiqui, General Manager-HR, Idea, was the chief guest at the B.Tech Freshers’s Event where students of rst and second year put up a grand show. The MBA Institute organized an orientation programme for newly admitted MBA & PGDM students. Mr. Munesh Kumar, Commissioner, Income Tax graced the event with his august presence.
All the departments organized various workshops, seminars and industrial visits to provide a better practical understanding of the subjects undertaken by the students. The University encouraged the institutes to educate and celebrate the events like “Tree plantation drive”, “Jeevan Darshan of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam”, “Swachhta Pakhwada”, and “Sanvidhaan Diwas”, which our Institute celebrated with full of zeal and enthusiasm.
The festival of lights was celebrated in a grand way in the Institute. As per the Institute’s tradition, “Roshni” – an event organized by GNIOT Cares, where clothes and gifts are distributed among the fourth class employees, was held. The management and the faculty celebrated “Deepotsav 2016” where a number of games were played and later everyone enjoyed a lavish lunch.
This semester too the faculty of the Institute ensured that the Institute’s ag continued to soar high in academic arena. A number of papers were published in Scopus Index journals. And also a number of prestigious awards were bestowed on our faculty in various events.
The Training and Placement Cell were at their rigorous best and as a result a number of companies visited our Institute for placement drive and our students grabbed job positions some prestigious United Health Group, Just Dial, Genpact, to name a few. With more companies lined up in the coming days we are aiming for above 80% placement this academic year.
I wish you all a very best in all your endeavors!

LATE SHRI KRISHAN LAL GUPTA18/02/1961 – 02/01/2017
(Approved by AICTE & Affiliated to Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow)
Tribute to our Founder Chairman
LATE SHRI KRISHAN LAL GUPTA18/02/1961 – 02/01/2017
It is with great sadness that we inform the sudden demise of our founder, Shri Krishan Lal Gupta Ji, Chairman, GNIOTGroup of Institutions on January 2, 2017.
According to a Chinese proverb, “If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for the lifetime, educate people”. This sums up the entire philosophy of the time and life of Shri K.L.Gupta Ji, a visionary and inspiration to many. With his sheer hard work and lifelong dedication, he built up the entire GNIOT Group of Institutions – a name that is taken with reverence and admiration.
Shri K.L.Gupta Ji was born on 18 th February 1961 in Village Karsindhu, District Jind, Haryana, to father Late ShriRamchander Bansal Ji and mother Late Shrimati Bhanpati Devi Ji.. He lost his parents at a very young age and then he along with his younger brother Shri Bishan Lal Gupta Ji and ve sisters moved on with their lives with courage and condence. In 1978 he got married to Shrimati Kamla Devi Ji and had two sons, Shri Rajesh Gupta Ji and Shri Gaurav Gupta Ji.
With his far-sightedness, devotion, and his zeal to do work which touches more than one lives, in the year 2000, Shri Ram Educational Trust was established. He realized to put our country forward, we must make our youth technically sound. Engineering is one domain where the youth can take constructive steps in order to strive for a more capable and advanced nation. Opening up an engineering college and providing the students and even the teaching fraternity with opportunities that would help them to strive for the best and achieve the same too, was his only dream. It was this drive and passion that inspired him to found and run the GNIOT Group of Institutions for over a decade.
“Mann ke jeete, jeete; mann ke haare, haare”, a philosophy that he lived by, thereby inculcating in everyone around him to never give up on their dreams and aspirations. You are a winner till in your mind you are one, and no matter how the circumstances are, you will eventually come out a success.
Though he is not with us today, he is and will always be the guiding star in all our progressions.
We will miss him dearly.

Sweet memories of our beloved Founder Chairman Sir
The dictionary states that “Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life”. This education can be a formal one for which we go to schools and colleges, study, learn rules and apply them on given set of problems, appear for exams and get certicates. This formal education too has many dimensions associated with it as the learning is not limited to classroom teaching, but also the experiences that we share with our friends, classmates, peers and teachers who inspire us and not to forget the lessons that we learn from our own mistakes. This education is what is known as informal education. So broadly we can dene education as an enlightening experience.
A true education is the one which can lay the path, set the course, and assist the humankind to make the world an even better place. Education is not just informative, but also includes ethical, behavioral and social aspects. Education combines historical, monumental and scientic events and thus guides us to take decisions for our day-to-day events. And as we go on, we expand our boundaries and are surprised by what we have learnt so far. For instance, the reaction that we would have given to a particular incident, let’s say, a few years ago, would have been very different we would arrive at now. The difference – education.
Throughout our lives, we face questions like “what is right”, “what is wrong”, “what is true”, “what is false”, “what is good”, “what is bad”, “what is great” and “what is ordinary” But as we climb the ladder of education, we have been able to make more decisive choices. The knowledge that are passed on to us over the generations along with the bits and pieces that we collect in our lifetime guide us in this direction.
There is another positive trait that education bestows upon us and that is good understanding. This understanding makes us more patient and we relate to the chain of events leading to a particular event. But education also entrust a sense of responsibility on us i.e. what to expect from ourselves and also from people around us and the society in general. We are supposed to conduct ourselves in a way that reects the learning that we have culled. For instance, our adherence to trafc rules. If the trafc police is not in sight and we defy the rules, it clearly indicates our ability to for go something which we have learnt well. similarly, jumping the line to enter a lift too speaks for our education.
Education also teaches us the way in which we behave with our surroundings and that goes for living and non-living. The people around us, and if I may classify them based on their job proles, then how do we behave with a person who is working at a position far below than ours. The way we treat animals, public properties and even plants should denitely reect the education that we had.
Education is a journey we all have to take. We cannot simply go through life and learn nothing, for even to have made this realization that we know nothing, we have actually realized that there is so much to learn. To conclude, I simply say that life and education is a journey and the day we stop learning is the day we stop living!

WHAT EDUCATION MEANTO US
Before talking about positive thoughts let us rst understand the relationship between the way we think and our mind. It is believed that we see this world through our mind. If our mind is peaceful, we see the good things in the entire world; enjoy the beauty of nature, and love having being born to appreciate life. But if our mind remains in a disturbed and agitated state, we may even fail to spot the simple magnicence of a ower and shall never cherish the joys of nature.
In order to attain a peaceful state of mind, the most important thing is to be satised with what we have at present and to make harmonious relations with the people all around us. Try to be calm and do not retaliate to something that is not pleasant to hear. Make people realize their mistakes by passive rather than active retaliatory ways. In all cases, we should never lose the inner peace of mind.
Our state of mind should bear a resemblance to a vast ocean. As the different rivers enter the ocean; which though full on all sides remain undisturbed, similarly a person should not be disturbed by incessant ow of desires and only then can achieve inner peace.
Do not keep your thoughts in control, but also do not let them command your mind. Because it is the way you respond to those thoughts that can either make you strongly mental or mentally strong. Positive thinking makes us more creative and has the power to change our way of living in miraculous ways. Fact is that the thought is like a boomerang in some mysterious ways as it goes around and comes around. Negative thoughts and tensions resemble birds, we cannot stop them from ying near us but, we certainly can stop them from making a nest in our mind.
Even the almighty says, “I treat my devotees as how they think of me”. So, those who come with positive energy and with great hope to door of mercy of the almighty creator shall never return disappointed and empty handed. Our mind is a garden, our thoughts are seeds, and so it is up to us to either grow owers or weeds.
Think positive, think different. There is something beautiful in life; we just have to nd it. Be positive and it will nd you….
