Collections of Everyday Objects

Collections of everyday objects have provided a rich source of study for artists

such as Wayne Thiebaud and Cynthia Poole. Everyday objects have also been

used in an inventive way in the three dimensional work of Louise Nevelson and Tony Cragg. Consider appropriate

work and develop a personal response.

What you need to do

AO1 Develop your ideas through researching other artists and cultures.

AO2 Experiment in your work with different methods and materials.

Refining your work; making it better.

AO3 Create drawings, paintings, photos connected with your theme - based on real objects that are in front of you or your imagination.

AO4 Show your final piece of work, which should be informed by the work you have done in the other assessment objectives

• Choose at least 1 artist and work of art and put examples Ion your page. • Describe why you have chosen them for this project. • Copy the interesting parts in colour onto your page. • Analyse them using specific art vocab- tone, texture, shape, pattern, composition.

• Experiment in the style of these artists with your idea. • Experiment with different materials. • Experiment with different processes- drawing, painting. • Experiment with ICT- photocopying, camera, scanning and art. • Review work-is your idea working? • Describe what is successful and unsuccessful and why.

• Brainstorm ideas/personal experiences. • Observational drawing/painting from real life. • Collect information from internet, books, newspapers, magazines, photos. • Montage in your sketchbook. • Sketch and label 3 ideas for your final piece in colour. • Describe the size, materials, audience participation.
