We don’t use ‘the’ when we talk about things in general

Cat’s are animals ( All cats ) Carrots are vegetables (All carrots )

When we talk about school, prison, college, church, university in general,

we don’t use ‘the’

Do you go to church? If I go to college I will be rich

We don’t use ‘the’ with: streets, parks, stations, airports, universities, lakes

The plane arrives at 4.30 at Manchester airport

We say: the Netherlandsthe United States

the UK

Notice the difference: ‘the’ or no ‘the’

Money is power. ( money in general )

The money for the car was paid by me. ( specific amount of money )
