Power
With the thumb opposed, all four fingers closeinto the palm until they meet resistance or theclose signal stops. When fingers are approachinga fully closed position, the thumb drives in tocover the fingers for additional grip security. This pattern allows round objects such as a ballor a piece of fruit to be held securely. This grip
can also provide a handshake. Cylindrical shapedobjects such as bottles, home and garden utensilhandles are also held easily and securely.
Tripod
When the thumb is opposed, the hand closesinto Tripod Grip with index and middle fingersmeeting the thumb. Ring and little fingerscontinue to close until they meet resistance orthe close signal stops. This type of grip allowsusers to pick up, hold and manipulate a variety ofeveryday objects such as car keys, coins, jar lidsand pens.
Hook
With the thumb in opposed position, a partiallyclosed Power Grip provides Hook Grip. This isideal for carrying a shopping bag or briefcase.Hook Grip can also be achieved by closing thefingers from the relaxed hand position.
Finger Adduction
The fingers of the bebionic hand move togethernaturally as the fingers close. This allows the userto securely grip thin objects, such as cutlery or
a toothbrush, between the fingers to achievefunction in a different plane. Finger Adduction ismost functional with the hand in Power Grip butcan also be achieved with the hand in Key Gripand Pinch Grip.

Active Index
With the thumb opposed Active Index Grip willgrasp the handle of an object with the middle,
ring and little fingers and secure the grip withthe thumb. The index finger will then close thismay be positioned over the lever of the deviceheld such as a spray bottle, it also offers theideal finger position for typing. The index fingeris under independent user control and may bepositioned accordingly. To exit Active Index, anopen signal will fully open the index finger beforethe other fingers and thumb release their grip.
The bebionic hand MUST NOTbe used to operate a firearm
SERIOUS WARNING
Precision Closed
This grip can be used in situations similar to thePrecision Open Grip, but where extended fingerswould be obstructive, such as working at a desk.Initially the middle, ring and little fingers closeinto the palm. The thumb moves to the midpointof its range and pauses. The Index is then activeand under user control.(To achieve this grip it is necessary for the thumb
to be manually repositioned by the practitioner/technician so that the thumb only contacts theindex finger.)
Precision Open
With the thumb opposed, the index finger meetsthe static thumb allowing the user to pick upand manipulate small objects. When this gripis selected and a close signal is applied, thethumb closes to the midpoint of its range andpauses. The index is then active and under usercontrol. The middle, ring and little fingers remainextended. (To achieve this grip it is necessary forthe thumb to be manually repositioned by thepractitioner/technician so that the thumb onlycontacts the index finger.)
Pinch
The thumb only contacts index finger and isused for the fine manipulation of objects. Toachieve this grip it is necessary for the thumbto be manually repositioned by the practitioner/technician so that the thumb only contacts theindex finger.

Relaxed Hand
The thumb is set to the non-opposed positionand partially driven in toward the palm. All thefingers are driven to a slightly flexed position.
Applying a further signal will drive the fingersinto Hook Grip for a carrying position.
Mouse
The thumb and little finger close to hold theside of the mouse, with the middle and ring
fingers providing stability. The index fingercloses on to the mouse button and then backsoff to provide the button press. Each closesignal will give a mouse click whilst an opensignal will release the mouse.
Column
This grip moves the thumb into the palm froma non-opposed position. The fingers then closeover the thumb to provide a fixed column thatcan be used as a way to push heavier objectsor larger buttons and switches. Column is alsothe recommended grip for dressing, as thethumb is kept out of the way.

Switching Grip Patterns
The first grip pattern available, in each operating mode, should be the grip you willuse most frequently. You can then switch to a second grip pattern by applying eithera co-contraction or a double OPEN signal to the hand. It is then possible to switch toa further two grip patterns in each mode by pressing the programme switch on theback of the hand.
An additional three grips and positions - hook, finger adduction and open palm - areachieved as part of other grip patterns. This means you will be able to select up to 11grip patterns that will be most beneficial in your day-to-day life.
Note: - Your practitioner will work with you to programme the hand with the mostappropriate grip patterns to suit your lifestyle. They will also work with you to findthe easiest way to change between grips. For certain grip patterns, it is necessary forthe practitioner to adjust the thumb alignment, so that the contact position between
finger(s) and thumb is optimised. For instance, the thumb contacts the index finger forprecision and pinch, whereas in tripod the thumb contacts the index and middle finger.
Use
Your prosthetic provider will help you to become proficient in using your bebionic3hand. You may attend some training sessions where different aspects of your everydayactivities will be explored. You can get the most from training by listing and suggesting
those tasks that you want to achieve. You can then work through this list with yourteam. To get the most from the hand, make sure your arm is comfortable, secure andfunctional.
Care
We recommend that you do not adjust, dismantle, attempt to maintain, or modify yourprosthesis. If it doesnt function as you think it should, contact your prosthetic providerwho will be able to provide guidance. You should inspect your prosthesis regularly to
dentify potentia problems early.
The bebionic glove is made of silicone; this can be cleaned with warm water and liquidsoap. If, and when, you need a replacement glove please contact your prostheticprovider. If water, perspiration, steam, snow, dust or sand enter the internal componentsof the arm, corrosion and component failure is likely to occur. Inspect the prosthesisregularly for glove damage, since cuts and tears allow these materials to penetrate theprosthesis.
Safety
Treat your prosthesis as if it were your own limb. Do not expose it to a naked flameor excessive heat. Take care not to touch live electrical equipment
