Incorporating puppetry, animation and visual design, Fragile shows how to cope with feelings and relationships to find a positive way to move forward.

TRY HARD
TRY HARD is a 60-minute original dance work exploring the perceived lack of inspiration in young people, afraid to take on their dreams and ambitions and conquer obstacles in their way. TRY HARD will combine a strong sense of theatricality, emotive dance-based scenes and feature the exciting new discipline Parkour. Parkour is a discipline developed in France and involves negotiating obstacles with speed and efficiency, including running, vaulting, rolling and climbing. This production is bold in its use of the young performers to represent, challenge and inspire their very own peers.

INSIGHT INTO PRODUCTION ELEMENTS
Dance teachers are often required to wear a number of hats when putting together a performance for their students: choreographer, rehearsal director, costume designer, stage manager and production coordinator. Run by West Australian Ballet’s Head of Production, Jon Buswell, this session is designed to develop skills by exploring production elements, simplifying the jargon and encouraging new ideas.

Since it was first published in 1883, Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio has captivated and influenced generations of young people with its tale about a little wooden puppet who faces many obstacles along the road towards becoming human. In a bold interpretation of Collodi’s work, Ivan Cavallari’s Pinocchio is truthful to the original essence of the story and the moral challenges associated with growing up.

Love is a tough nut to crack. A joyous tale for all the family this Christmas, Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score is brought to life in this groundbreaking interpretation of a great ballet classic. Ivan Cavallari has combined traditional Nutcracker themes – Christmas, the nut, the great battle, dances from around the world – with an engaging new plot and characters, set against an Australian summer backdrop.
