PG-2 Service limitations

(a)Boilers in which steam or other vapor is generated at pressure of more than 15 psig (100 kPa)

(b) High temperature water boiler operated at pressure exceeding 160 psig (1.1 Mpa) and/or temperature exceeding 250̊ F (120̊ C)

PG-3 Referenced standards

The Manufacture shall establish the effective Code Edition, Addenda, and Code Case for boilers and replacement parts in accordance with Mandatory Appendix VI

Specific editions of standards referenced in this section are shown in table A-360

MANDATORY APPENDIX VI

Specific Edition of Standard

MATERIALS

• Except cast Iron, materials subject to stress due to pressure shall conform to the specification given in Section II and shall be limited those that are listed in the Table of Section II, Part D

Section II Part D Table 1A

DESIGN

• The design of power boiler, high temperature water boiler and all pressure parts included within the scope of this Section shall conform to the general requirements and in addition to the specific requirements for design given in the applicable Parts of this Section

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE WORKING PRESSURE

• Maximum Allowable Working Pressure is the pressure determined by employing the allowable stress value, design rules, and dimensions designated in this Section.

• Whenever the term maximum allowable working pressure is used in this Section, it refer to gage pressure or the pressure above atmosphere.

HYDROSTATC TEST

• After a boiler has been completed it shall be subjected to pressure testing using water at not less than ambient temperature, but in no case less than 20 degree C

• Apply to the highest point of the boiler system

• Test pressure shall be not less than 1.5 X MAWP

HYDROSTATIC TEST

• The hydrostatic test pressure may then be reduced to MAWP

• Maintained at this pressure while the boiler is carefully examined

• The metal temperature shall not exceed 50 degree C. during the close visual examination
