SAFETY MOMENTWATER- Before you medicate, hydrate
According to Doug Costa PhD, “Water makes up about 2/3 of who we are, and influences 100% of the processes in our body. Water is so beneficial, so easy, so free and yet so easily overlooked. An individual should have at least 1.5litres of water per day.
Benefits of drinking water• Water helps you think, focus and be more alert and it also aids in boosting ones
energy.
• It helps relieves and prevents headaches, migraines and back pains which are commonly caused by dehydration.
• It aids in digestion of food and also prevents constipation.
• It moisturizes your skin, keeps it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth. It also gets rid of wrinkles.
• A glass of water in the morning helps to activate the organs quickly.
• A glass of water before you bathe reduces blood pressure.
• A glass of water before going to bed reduces the risk of heart attack.

OBJECTIVES OF SIWES
To provide an avenue for students in higher institutions of learning to acquire industrial skills and experiences during their course of study.
To prepare students for industrial work situations that they are likely to encounter after school.
To expose students to work methods and techniques in handling equipment and machinery that may not be available in their institutions.
To make the transition from school to the world of work easier and enhance students’ contacts for later job placements.

General equation for a material balance:

DECLINE CURVE ANALYSIS (DCA)
DCA is a tool used for production forecasting of a well in a reservoir; Based on three production functions: Exponential, Hyperbolic,
Harmonic; Exponential is the most commonly used because it gives a
conservative estimate of the forecast; It is used to complement the DSS (Dynamic Surveillance Software);

PROSPER
Prosper models are done based on: Productivity index; Gas Oil ratio (GOR); Oil FVF (Formation Volume Factor);and Reservoir and Bubble point pressure etc.
In order to determine the relationship between VLP and IPR curves.

• Okan GGCP(Gas Gathering and Compression Platform);
• Okan NWP(NAG Well Platform);
• Escravos Gas plant(EGP);
• Dehydration Unit; and
• Escravos Tank Farm.

OKAN PRODUCTION PLATFORM
Basic unit operation is separation (density, retention time and gravity); Chemicals such as biocide, emulsion breakers and water clarifiers are
used; Recovered oil is pumped to Escravos with the aid of centrifugal pumps.

CHOKE OPTIMIZATION
Used to control the flow rate of fluids from the reservoir; High THP (Tubing Head Pressure), a larger choke size is
recommended to enable more flow; For new wells the choke size is gradually varied; At a certain point, increase or decrease in choke is ineffective to the
production of a well hence choke optimization. Special case when an increase in choke size could lead to decrease
in production rate.

BOSIET- Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training
This was conducted to get me acquainted in the case of an emergency and the basic things to do to ensure my survival offshore.
What I learned: HUET(Helicopter Underwater Escape Training); Sea Survival; Fire Fighting and Emergency rescue; First Aid; Safety Induction; and T.E.M.P.S.C( Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft).

CONCLUSION
From my internship, I Was able to appreciate my 4 year study of Chemical Engineering;
The core objectives of SIWES were met;
Had the opportunity to see how my engineering knowledge can be used to create value for an organization;
Gained significant insight into the Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering profession and practice;
Learned the key role safety plays in the oil and gas industry; and
Learned the value of cross-functional collaboration and team work in delivering optimum value from company assets.
