SKILLS

SELECTPAST PROJECTS

The project implements SURF feature detecon algorithm in MATLAB using SURFmex (OpenCV implementaon of SURF in Matlab). Monochrome Glyphs were successfully detected in real-me in RGB videos recorded for the project.

● IMPLEMENTATION OF SURF FEATURE DETECTION ALGORITHM ON VIDEOS FOR DYNAMIC GLYPH DETECTION (2015):

Various feature detecon like SURF, SIFT and paern recognion techniques were implemented to detect cars (side view only) in colour images.

● CAR DETECTION IN AN IMAGE USING FEATURE AND PATTERN MATCHING TECHNIQUES(2012):

The project was a 6-DOF roboc manipulator for industrial applicaons. Manipulator was designed manufactured locally and forward & inverse kinemac control algorithms were implemented through an industrial grade embedded controller (C8051F06x) interfaced with an HMI Device, AVR µC based servo control.

● MODELLING AND CONTROL OF A 6-00F ROBOTIC ARM FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS (2011):

The project was successfully completed at Center of Advanced Studies in Engineering (C@SE) by Undergraduate Students of Electrical Engineering in 2010. The robot was a GPS guided Semi-autonomous all-terrain vehicle, The mechanical design was inspired version of the Shrimp Rover (original design by Instute of Robocs and Intelligent Systems, Swiss Federal Instute of Technology)

● DESIGN , FABRICATION OF AN AUTONOMOUS ALL TERRAIN SHRIMP ROVER WITH SURVEILLANCE & AUTONOMOUS NAVIGATION (PROJECT SUPERVISOR):

The project implements real-me object localizaon, SURF feature tracking (using KLT), and PID control implemented on a Lego Mindstorm robot using MATLAB and a monocular camera setup. The robot successfully follows the person in an unstructured environment avoiding any obstacles that come in between.

● PERSON FOLLOWING ROBOT USING RGB CAMERA (2016):

MSC RESEARCH

The research successfully ulized Microso Kinect v2 for a small-scale, near-real-me underwater object 3D

scene reconstrucon and 3D scanning. Using Kinect v2 in a custom designed waterproof housing, the

research successfully showed that underwater 3D scene reconstrucon is possible using NIR depth cameras

with acceptable trade-offs in accuracy and scanning distance. The acquired depth data was processed to

accommodate effects of refracon of the sensor housing and water. The errors in depth calculaon due to

the change of medium for a me of flight sensor were recfied, in addion to the removal of extra noise

faced in underwater imaging, without significant loss of features. The pre-processed data was then passed

on to a custom implementaon of Kinect Fusion for underwater 3D object scanning and model creaon.
