SPRING/SUMMER 2012 STREET STYLE TRENDS

SARAH MILLER

STREET STYLE

The Streets of Atlanta

Atlanta style seems to be driven by music, it’s southern heritage, weather, and the arts. Still a major train city, we can see the influence of grunge and street art as well as a down to earth blue collar style in many of the community neighborhoods. Some of the most interesting neighborhoods, each producing their own unique styles were: Inman park, Little 5 Points, East Atlanta Village, Northside, and Reynolds Town. The nightlife culture of the city revolves around Cuisine, music venues, coffee shops and art galleries. Since there is an abundance of thrift stores in and around the city many of the trends involved used clothing and vintage prints.

GRUNGE: Rebellious Riot Kids Inspired by the early 90’s punk rock movement ATLiens gravitate towards oversized vintage rocker tees, crop tops, ripped or frayed denim, and vests. Lace up boots and bum bags are key.
