Audience FeedbackWhat have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Audience FeedbackAudience Feedback Questionnaire

After my project had been completed, I created a questionnaire to hand out to a test audience, in order to gain feedback on the quality, and suitability, of what I had produced. I gathered a test audience consisting of 10 members, and then screened my video, and showed them my print products. I then asked them to fill out the questionnaire, based on what they had seen. I also recorded video footage of some feedback, which can be found in this blog post. I scanned in a completed copy of the audience feedback questionnaire:

Audience FeedbackAudience Feedback (Social Networking)

As well as gaining a questionnaire-based form of feedback, I also worked with the band in doing some viral promotion of the video, on sites such as YouTube and Facebook, in order to see what sort of feedback we could get from the actual target audience. Here I have included screenshots of comments found on these social networking websites:

Do you think the product is a conventional, or unconventional, music video? Why?

“conventional, but that’s honestly a positive”

Do you feel this video breaks away from the conventions of a typical music video? How?

“it’s conventional, but the choice of location keeps it looking fresh”

Was the pace of the video right for the tempo of the song?

“very dynamic”

What worked well in my video production?

“everything, especially the grey scale live sections”

Are there any things that you think didn’t work well in my video production?

“the interior corridor shots look a bit out of place”

Doe the video reflect the genre of the music?

“especially the fast editing”

Have I been successful in my application of branding, throughout my media products?

“I like the picture of the gallery used on the album cover”

Do you feel there are any improvements that could be made?

“should not have used the shots walking through the corridors”

Audience FeedbackWhat have I learnt from gathering this audience feedback?

First and foremost, I have learnt that my audience really like the product which I have created, and feel that I have been very successful in making something that will appeal to the specified target audience. I have found that my branding has been successful throughout, and so my products have a visual link which means they work as a promotional package. In terms of what could have been improved, my audience feedback has revealed that viewers weren’t overly keen on the interior gallery shots, but this was only a minority, and so if I had chance to do this project again, I probably wouldn’t chose to omit these from the production. I have found that out of all the technical aspects of the video, my audience are mostly keen on the editing, which shows that I have made good use of my generic research, as one of the main conventions I commented on was the high-speed, fast-paced, editing. Overall, my conducted audience feedback gathering session has shown that my product has been very well received, and will work as a promotional tool in aiding sales of the band’s music, which is, after all, its primary purpose.
