What to collect & what to look for in the data

- Ahrefs, Majestic, WMT- Destination URL & HTTP status- Exact Match Anchor text- No Domain Page Rank / Fake PageRank- IP address- Follow/Nofollow- No. referring domains- Live / not live- Is page indexed (scrapebox)- Pages with malicious / explicit content- Page Title & meta description- Link from a home page?

Get informed. Completeness is everything.

- Count of domain (site wide links)- Links from penalised domains- Odd Page Rank distribution curve- Links with exact match keyword anchors- Links from pages with malicious / explicit content- Links from directories / article directories- Site-wide links- Lots of domains on the same C-block IP- Anchor text distribution – brand vs non-brand- Links pointing to 404 destination URL- Hidden do follow comment spam (under disqus plugin)

What are you looking out for?

Pay someone to copy / paste all the free directory lists they can find on the internet and just submit a disavow (or do it properly by searching / categorising)your IBL profile

Are these spammy links from submission software?Work out if your IBL’s are from a software submitter (thanks @Ohgm)

When Cyrus submitted all of his links via disavow, he permanently lost all of his rankings. Review your links thoroughly - submit a *good* link and it’ll never give you PageRank again.
