Roadway Projects

• Approximately 80% of NB lanes poured• Piers and Bents completed for northbound

bridge, waiting on cure time to set beams• Work continuing on Retaining Wall south

side of Hickory Slough bridge

Cullen Parkway

Construction phase II – Veterans Dr to Pearland Parkway

• Completed interlocking block placement in Magnolia Outfall and Independence Park Outfall

• BNSF initiated removal of at-grade RR crossing by removing concrete panels

• Completed pavement marking adjustments on Overpass

• Completed irrigation and planting on Magnolia Rd. medians

Magnolia Road

Construction Phase III – Morgan to Harkey and CR 89

• Enterprise Pipeline completed work in easement west of Harkey

• Initiated sealing of manholes in preparation for televising sanitary line

• Completed investigations of settlement issue by coring, boring and hand augers to determine areas of concern

• Initiated waterline testing on Cullen Parkway and portions of Magnolia water line

• Completed traffic switch on Cullen

Magnolia Road

Phase I - Beamer to FM518

• TxDOT is near closing out the project• Preliminary calculation is that we will be refunded

$869,525.67

Dixie Farm Road

Phase II – Mary’s Creek Bypass to SH35

• Continued excavation activities and lime stabilization in future southbound main lane area

• CenterPoint completed one phase of relocation to remove gas line in conflict

• Working on intersections of Tall Oaks, Bestin Oaks, and Willow Lake

• Preparing for intersection work at Inverness

Detention – East Mary’s Creek• Completed excavation activities• Completed pilot channels in pond• Working on project cleanup and closeout

Dixie Farm Road

• The jack and bore started August 10, 2010 with a duration of 20 days for each of three runs

• Mykawa-Orange Intersection closure began September 13th

• The railroad shut down the project due to rail deflection issues. These have been abated by slowing the train speed down to 25mph

• Overhead utilities along Mykawa were raised to alleviate a clearance issue for the trucks entering and leaving Pipe and tube Supply’s yard.

Town Ditch Phase III

• TxDOT has verbally agreed to adjust their design to match the Orange Street design

• Engineer is working with AT&T to solve issues that arose as a result of line and equipment relocation

• Bidding scheduled for September 2010

Orange Street

• Coordinating work with TxDOT and BNSF• One parcel remains but we have a ROE• Utilities continuing relocation• LJA has incorporated an add alternate to include

asphalt overlay of the road between Old Alvin and Grand; also between McLean and Austin

• Working with BDD4 to address their concerns with lowering Walnut Street

• Negotiating Construction Management services

Walnut Reconstruction

• 100% plans currently under review• Finalized negotiations on RFP sent to engineer for

amendment to the design contract for plan changes associated with revisions to the Bailey drainage.

• $1.2M overall savings by upsizing the trunkline and taking additional flows to the Cowart Creek Diversion Ditch

• Preparing contract for Noise Impact Analysis services. City requested that services not begin until school returned to session so conditions would be closer to normal

• ROW acquisition underway – 55 of 65 parcels acquired

Bailey Road (Veterans to FM1128)

• Sidewalk, fine grading and sod placement continued• Bridge railings placed, striping completed• Continued work with Centerpoint to install

streetlights along the new roadway• Soundwall contract awarded to John Reed & Co. • Continued to work with design team to resolve

conflicts with utilities• Reconstruction lanes have been opened to traffic

McHard Road (Country Place to Cullen)

• Awaiting letter from TxDOT for balance of City’s cost of the utilities based on the AFA (est. $400,000)

• City and TxDOT projects underway• Working with TxDOT to address local business

concerns• Submitted for USACE permit for low water crossing• Mitigation plans completed; waiting on permit and

TxDOT approval

SH35 – BW8 to FM518

Drainage Projects

Detention Pond• Pond A approximately 84% excavated• Hauling activities and fill placement at second fill

site continued• JKC continued working with Public Works to

finalize the electrical design for the pump station• ESPA has been authorized to continue their design

based on the revised Bailey drainage plan

Cowart Creek Diversion

Diversion Ditch• East – West corridor acquisition complete• Conoco Phillips pipeline agreement

approved by Council• Dannenbaum optimization study found

overall cost savings of $1.2M by upsizing the Bailey trunkline and sending additional flows to the diversion ditch

Cowart Creek Diversion

• Contractor completing punch list items• Harris completed work at the Bailey pond to

fill in washed out area under pilot channel at outfall to Cowart’s Creek, low spots were also filled in

Bailey & Veterans Regional Detention

Facility Projects

Old PD Renovations

• Met with the architect to further address the revised scope of the project

• Received the asbestos and lead reports of the jail area which will be used for on-site storage for several City Departments. Asbestos is present in the flooring tile mastic.

• Requested proposal for asbestos remediation• Received proposal for demolition

• Held interim design review meeting on July 20th

• Conducted Site/Civil plan review July 28th

• Received 90% Construction Documents and distributed for internal review

• Plans in for permitting• Scoping work for the retro-fit of the existing fuel

management system at the Orange Street facility

Hillhouse Road Service Center

• Conducted Substantial Completion inspection• Obtained Certificate of Occupancy• Held VIP Reception and Grand Opening• Scheduled TDLR inspection for September

Recreation and Natatorium Center

• Floor Drain and reversed Holding Cell door have been installed

• Jail control and surveillance system completed and programmed

• Working towards building commissioning

Public Safety Building

• Substantial June 30th• Completed final items of punch list August 20th

• Final Completion and Acceptance issued August 24th

• Unused contingency amount $296,970

U of H Clear Lake – Pearland Campus

• Building slab foundation passed strength tests• Petrographic analysis completed• Contractor began erecting building August 28th

• Working with a vendor on a proposal to provide an alerting system for the facility that would tie into the City’s existing dispatch system

• Preparing to pour site paving

Fire Station #5

• FDC received bids• $997,000• Engineering Department’s comments were

sent back to the engineer for re-submittal

Fire Station #6

• HVAC system/insulation repairs started; sources of condensation identified and corrected

• Exhaust fan repairs completed• Kennel gate rebuilds began; working with

contractor to resolve issues with the finish• Final finish selections submitted to contractor• Furniture and equipment orders placed• TDLR ADA inspection completed

Animal Control Expansion

• New easement mapping received – moving forward with acquisition

• Property appraisals received and offers made.• Counteroffers received and are under review• Some files are being prepared for condemnation

proceedings.• City staff met with design firm to begin finalizing

construction plans in preparation for bidding

Trail Connectivity

• Reviewing scope of design contract for the Detention Pond and Sports Complex

30” Waterline Interconnect

• Notice to Proceed issued to Huff & Mitchell, Inc. on August 23rd

• Beltway 8 crossing underway – 330 of 401 feet completed

• Approximately 500 feet south of Clear Creek completed

• CoH 72” line scheduled for completion in March 2011

City of Houston Interconnect

Alice Street Water Plant

• Installation of waterlines and storm sewer lines within plant site began

• Beginning excavation for the foundation of the 5MG Ground Storage Tank

• Completed placement of clay material in Backwash Pond area

• Began placement of clay material on east and west slopes

Surface Water Reservoir

Knapp Road LS & SH35 Utilities

• PEDC Funded• 100% plans completed. • Easement donations pursued by PEDC• PEDC working with developer on

construction plan and evaluating alternatives for funding the construction

Hooper Road Utilities

• PER submitted for approval• Negotiating design contract with Malcom Pirnie;

submit for Council approval in October

Longwood WWTP Rehabilitation

• Submitted first draft of Preliminary Engineering Report

• PER completion scheduled for September 2010

Barry Rose WWTP Rehabilitation

• Held substantial walk through inspections of Knapp Road lift station and Blockbuster grinder pump station

• Punch list items noted
