Tops in Blue brings its family friendly show, “Rhythm Nation,” to the Chisholm Trail Expo Center on August 25.
“We have a great variety of music, so the show is for everyone. Not just Air Force members will enjoy the show; Marines, the Navy, everyone will love it. It’s truly a family show,” said A1C Jarrod Burton, a male vocalist for the 2011 group.
Tops in Blue is the premier entertainment group of the United States Air Force with a performance history spanning more than 57 years. Each year the group is comprised of roughly 35 to 40 active-duty Air Force person-nel who competed in a multilevel competition for a spot in the elite organization.
Annually the Tops in Blue team travels around the world performing more than 140 shows in 20 different countries.
This year’s show “Rhythm Nation” has music and dancing for all generations and genres, Burton said.
“Our show goes from the 1900s to the music of today,” he said. “People who have seen the show say our music brings back memories and songs they haven’t heard or thought about in years.”
The 90-minute show features songs from Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis to contem-porary artists such as J-Lo.
“When people come out to see us, they can expect a very entertaining show. It’s non-stop energy from beginning to end,”
Burton said. He said his favorite part of Tops in
Blue is seeing the happiness the show brings to everyone the team performs for, especially veterans.
“When we sing ‘God Bless the USA’ of-ten veterans and military personnel stand up and take pride in being American. It’s very fulfilling and makes me proud to be part of the group,” Burton said.
Tops in Blue “Rhythm Nation” is free and open to the public. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
The Tops in Blue 2011 Tour is spon-sored by Coca-Cola Co., which has sponsored the event the past eight years.

Food banks around the country are facing severe shortages of nonperishable items, just as summer begins and children are left without school nutrition programs. Commissaries nationwide have partnered with federal employees to collect food for local food banks throughout the summer. At Vance, individuals can help by donating nonperishable food and hygiene items, through August 24 at collection points around base. Drop off your donations at designated points in the Commissary and at each unit.
