Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is the largest city in the Caucasus. With 1.7 million people, it was the fifth-largest city in the entire Soviet Union
Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan. It is located on the Absheron peninsula, the “head” of the Azerbaijani eagle, in a bay at the Caspian Sea. It is the largest city of Azerbaijan as well as of the South Caucasus and the political, economic and cultural center of Azerbaijan.
