Baba Farid College as one of the pioneer instutes of Punjab (Malwa region) has emerged as a leading instuon of North India. The college is affiliated with Punjabi University Paala and running under Baba Farid Vidayak Society which was founded in 1993 under the visionary patronage of prominent educaonists. The college is well known for its outstanding achievements such as 100% results and meritorious posions in various examinaons conducted university. In the academic curriculum special emphasis is laid on research and innovaon. Baba Farid College aims at all-around development and  a class grooming of students to enable them to face the challenges of modern globalized markets. Baba Farid College spread over a sprawling 50 acres of land, situated 4 km away from municipal  limits of Bathinda city on Bathinda-Muktsar road. The college has developed a beauful campus with a charming landscape in sylvan surroundings. The state-of-the art campus is highly equipped and is connuously upgraded to meet the futurisc needs and challenges. Started from a scratch the college is connuously developing in a planned and systemac way under the able guidance of its Managing Director Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Bharat Jyo Awardee) with a missionary zeal, societal commitment,  imaginave vision, the spirit of sacrifice, and service to the cause of educaon. The management is honored to have prominent and commied outstanding educaonists on its Board of Directors. Some of them are noted NRIs from the U.K, U.S.A, and Canada. Guided by such prominent educaonists from across the world, the college is making connuous progress day by day, and the sky is not the limit for us.

In the current scienfic age, materials science and radiaon technology are the most significant areas of research as our connuous technological development is dependent on new class of materials with suitable properes and various radiaon processes. Materials Science is an acclaimed scienfic discipline, expanding in recent decades to surround polymers, ceramics, mulfunconal materials, glass,  composite materials  and  biomaterials. Materials science involves the discovery and design of new materials.  Many of the most pressing scienfic problems humans currently face are due to the limitaons of the materials that are available and, as a result, major breakthrough in material science is likely to affect the future of technology significantly. Material sciensts lay stress on understanding how the history of a material influences its structure, and thus its properes and performance. A l l eng ineered products f rom a i rp lanes to mus ica l instruments,  alternave energy  sources related to eco-friendly manufacturing processes,  medical devices  to arficial ssues, computer chips to data storage devices and many more are made from materials.  In fact, all new and altered materials are oen at the heart of product innovaon in highly diverse applicaons.

Radiaon has wide applicaons in almost all walks of our life. It is necessary to understand the origin, properes and effects of these radiaons on the medium which results in physical, chemical & biological effects. In addion, there are several situaons in which, the human beings come in contact with the radiaons mainly in research, medical, industries, nuclear power plants, agriculture and spacecra applicaons. Safe usage and control of radiaons is very essenal for the personnel involved in these fields. Hence, it is a standard pracce for the radiaon workers to opmize the radiaon exposure as low as reasonably achievable.

Keeping the above menoned needs, Baba Farid College, a constuent of Baba Farid Group of Instuons, Bathinda, Punjab is organizing a naonal workshop on “Recent Advances in Natural Radionuclides and Mulfunconal Materials (RANRAMM-2021)” from 18-20 August, 2021. This workshop will focus to facilitate the exchange of latest research, current pracces, and future trends in the field of radiaon physics and material Science that would best fit for the local as well as global needs.

The Physics Department is the core department of Baba Farid College which was established in 2005 and is situated in centrally air condioned building surrounded by lush green environment. BFGI has the honor to run post graduate and under graduate course in physics. It is one and only Instute in Malwa Region having M.Sc in Physics and B.Sc (Hons. Physics). The aim of the department right from its incepon is to meet the requirement of trained manpower in Physics for teaching, research and engineering. The department can boost of well qualified faculty and well equipped research labs.

THE NUCLEAR TRACK SOCIETY OF INDIA (NTSI) was founded as the professional body in the year 1987 as a cohesive group of Material Science Experts, Nuclear and Geo Physicists & Technologists etc, with mulfarious objecves. The members of this professional society are eminent academicians, sciensts, technologists, students, educaonal instuons and other interested enes. Efforts are being made to promote the research acvies and the NTSI, ll date, has successfully organized 19 Biennial Symposia.
