PANEL ONE SUMMARY

MEETING DATE Tuesday, September 29, 2015 VOTING SELECTION PANELISTS *Toks Ajike, Recreation and Park Department David Hooper, Community Representative Ellen Oh, Arts Professional Jerome Reyes, Arts Professional Jessica Silverman, Arts Commissioner *Susan Vutz, Design Team Representative *Sharing a vote PROCESS Round One: The panel evaluated the work of 12 artists selected from the 2015/16 Prequalified Artist Pool using the following criteria and numeric scoring system (1=low score):

• Artistic Excellence (1-10) • Appropriate for Project Goals (1-10)

After tallying the scores, it was determined that six artists fell within a competitive range for further consideration. Round Two: The panel discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each of the six remaining candidates, then ranked them 1 – 6 in order of preference (1=high score). RESULTS The following three artists received the highest scores: Benicia Gantner 11 Lordy Rodriguez 11 Jason Jägel 13 Alternate: Aileen Barr 16 ARTS COMMISSION APPROVAL: Motion to approve the selected finalists; Benicia Gantner, Lordy Rodriguez, and Jason Jägel, with Aileen Barr as alternate, as recommended by the Balboa Pool Improvement Project Public Art Selection Panel to develop conceptual proposals for the Balboa Pool Improvement Project.
