Start of School 2016 - a note for your calendar that students in Years 1- 6 (not
Prep) commence school for 2016 on Friday 29th January. Teachers will be at
school on the 27th and 28th of January undertaking important professional
development and planning to ensure a successful start to the year.
Transitions - Our 2016 Prep students enjoyed their second transition visit last
Tuesday. It is great to see the students building familiarity with the school and
enjoying themselves. You can almost see their confidence building. Parents have
participated in information sessions, while their children are in the classroom gaining
information on our approaches to English and Mathematics. Our final transition visit
is next Wednesday 2nd December. At the other end of the school our Year 6
students are starting preparations for finishing at Mount Martha Primary School.
The secondary college Orientation Day is on Tuesday 8th December and planning
for Graduation is well underway.
Instrumental Music Concerts - We certainly have some very talented musical
performers at Mount Martha Primary School! Last night was the first of our
instrumental music concerts with another tonight and our piano students next
Wednesday 2nd December. These performances give our students the opportunity
to showcase their progress and talent with their instruments in front of an audience.
Thank you parents for your assistance and support of our music program.
Lost Property - With the end of the year rapidly approaching now is the time to
check your child’s belongings. We have quite a collection of lost property which we
would love to return to the owners. The lost property is mainly unnamed jumpers but
we do have other items as well. Checking lost property is a great way to save some
of the expense of replacing uniform, lunchboxes, drink bottles etc., for the 2016
school year.
Kind regards
Martin Page

SPORTS NEWS
Jogging Club LAST DAY! Jogging club will be finishing up on Friday 27th November. What a huge year it has been and a huge credit to those students who regularly attend and have a go. At our final assembly, the class that has managed to complete the most kilometers in 2015 will be announced.
Victorian Gymnastics Championship
Earlier this month, Jessica in Year 4 went to Geelong to compete in the Victorian Gymnastics Championship, competing against the best 16 girls in Victoria in her age group. In the finals she had to compete on four apparatus (Floor, Bars, Vault, and Beam). Jessica was competing in the under 11’s and achieved some awesome results across all apparatus. She finished 1st on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 4th on Beam, 5th on Floor which gave her and overall ranking of 1st Place.
Jessica is now level 5 under 11’s Victorian Champion of 2015. Well Done Jessica!
Missing Uniforms
All our sporting activities require uniforms and equipment. We had students represent our school in summer & winter sport, cross country, athletics - please check if you have any uniform items and return them to school ASAP. They are important for our sporting teams for 2016.
