China Academy of Building Research
Founded in 1953, China Academy of Building Research (CABR) is the
largest and most diverse research institution in building industry in China.
It used to be affiliated to the Ministry of Construction (MOC). Since 1 October
2000, it transferred from the public institution into a technology-based enter-
prise, affiliated to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration
Commission of the State Council (SASAC).
As the largest comprehensive research and development institute in the
building industry in China, CABR is responsible for the development and man-
agement of the major engineering construction and product standards of China.
It exercises quality supervisions and tests on engineering construction, air con-
ditioning equipment, solar water heater, elevator and chemical building materi-
als so as to promote the scientific advancement of the construction industry, to
push forward the standardization of the engineering construction, to enhance
construction quality management, and to make active contributions to the de-
velopment of construction industry in China.
CABR has 14 research institutes (centers) and 77 laboratories, covering 70
research fields of building structure, foundation, earthquake engineering, built
environment and energy efficiency, residential building system and product, in-
telligent building, building engineering software, construction mechanization,
building fire prevention, construction technology, building materials and so on.

with Hangzhou Ougan Technology company Ltd, a leading manufacturer of
load cells specially applied to bi-directional load tests.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang of China, OUGAN is specialized in
the design and manufacture of Bi-directional static loading test (BDSL) equip-
ment.
Starting in the year 2005, we have tested more than two thousand piles in
and out of China with our own patented super cells by working with CABR.
We provide complete service including super cell manufacture, cell installa-
tion, field data collection & analysis, and test report preparation.
OUGAN was invited by National Center For Quality Supervision And Test
Of Building Engineering - the top inspection institute of construction system
in China, to participate in research of BDSLT special project as the equipment
and technology supplier in 2012. This demonstrates how OUGAN is involved
in the further regulation and promotion of BDSLT applications for inspection
and testing of pile foundations.
First Joint-Venture was established in Singapore in year 2014 to provide
bi-directional static load test service in Southeast Asia. And the Joint-Venture
for Middle-East Market is planned for establishment in Dubai by 2015.

Unlike conventional cells that virtually are combination of hydraulic
cylinders, OUGAN Super-cells consist of one or multiple inflatable jacks
(Super-jacks) that produce large load. The patented Super-jacks adopt
special sealing technology, and are made with large loading area, low
original height, light weight, and excellent loading performance. Due to
the large loading area, no high pressure is needed to produce high load.
Usually, the max hydraulic pressure to do bi-directional loading test with
super-cells is lower than 30Mpa. This dramatically reduces the risk of hy-
draulic failure. The Super-cells may be built in various shapes, depending
on pile diameters and test purposes.

Each super-jack is tested and calibrated before assembly. The loading
pressure is determined by calibration result on linear relation between pres-
sure and load.
Calibration process Calibration Certificate
Telltale wire is utilized to measure displacement. Tied at suitable position
of reinforcement cage, the telltale wire transfers the displacement all the way
to the other end on ground. The telltale wire is shielded to be separated from
concrete, and it’s straightened by a steel block hung on the other end. A
measurement base is set up to record the displacement.
