Become Part of the Earth’s Equation

ANNUAL REPORT2008

From The Executive DirectorWhen you reduce, reuse or recycle, you become part of the earth's equation.

The average American discards 7.5 pounds of garbage every day. Without recycling, we add unneeded pressure to our environment -- from our forests, to our deserts and to our oceans, by extracting more and more resources.

Enter the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery to help solve this environmental problem by teaching kids to be creative and take care of the planet. At our 15,000 square foot facility in Indio, California, more than a quarter of a million visitors of all ages learn the Four R’s - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Responsibility.

Founded in 1997, the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery transforms things tossed into great works of art, helping to renew, respond and resolve.

Field trips to the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery, special projects, new exhibitions and outreach services are integral to the Gallery program as it achieves student involvement in recycling/art issues and communicates with the general public the need for ongoing environmental awareness and practices.

The 2008-09 year has been exciting for the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery as it continues to address the environmental concerns of both the local and global communities. We are committed along with students from all over to make a difference which will equal prosperity for our planet.

-Karen Riley
